Secrets and Lies

The old saying goes, "Information is Power." So the powerful don't want you to have information. They keep secrets and continuously lie to us. The most blatant example of that is the Trans Pacific Partnership negotiation process. It's been done in total secrecy and we've been lied to about what's in it.  Just consider why a "trade deal" would have to be top secret. Last week, while we were metaphorically stuck on the George Washington Bridge with Chris Christie, a bill was introduced by Max Baucus in the Senate and Dave Camp in the House that would rush the TPP [...]

“Shake More Hands, Drop Fewer Bombs”

I think I said it all yesterday, except for the "I told you so." Even John Stewart went off on how ridiculous the criticisms of the Handshake that Shook the World were... The Daily Show Get More: Daily Show Full Episodes,The Daily Show on Facebook But if you listen all the way to the end, you'll hear John Stewart say that the "selfie" (actually taken by the Danish Prime Minister of herself, President Obama and UK Prime Minister David Cameron) "kind of fucked up." No Jon. What's fucked up is the holier than thou attitude of the pundits (yourself included) [...]

How Ted Cruz Brought Down the GOP!

Sometimes, the analogy just appears out of nowhere. This morning while picking today's pre-show music, I was thinking that the GOP was stuck.  So I played songs that fit that theme leading up to the start of the show for those who checked in on one of my feeds a little early. ("Stuck in the Middle with You" by Stealer's Wheel, "Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again" by Dylan, Todd Snider's "Stuck on the Corner", and U2's "Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of" all seemed to fit in one way or another.) As I [...]

Laughter and Lust… and everything in between

We covered a lot of territory on the show this morning, but the overriding theme was laughter.  After the last few weeks, I thought we needed some "funny" to counter the angst. I promised another edition of Oy, FloriDUH.. so here it goes (note: there is nothing even remotely funny about any of these stories - but taken together, they show the absurdity of life in America's penis): #1 Police in Jacksonville arrest and reportedly assault a man for walking while black on the wrong side of the street. First Coast News obtained court papers which state that Wingate was walking [...]

Opposition World

The ugly part of politics is the politics.  "Oppo Research" is an ugly necessity for anyone in a campaign. You have to know who your opponent is, especially the ugly parts of their history. It's the ugliest part of the ugly side of politics, which is in itself, usually an ugly game. But not all candidates use the oppo research they gather in the same way.  There are some unspoken "gentlemen's rules" - but it seems as if Mitch McConnell doesn't know or care. Mother Jones, the go-to magazine if you have a surreptitious recording to leak these days, [...]

Mitt, Manning & Matthews

Listen to this episode: {play}http://traffic.libsyn.com/radioornot/20120716_Nicole_Sandler_Show_-_Mitt_Manning__Matthews_in_the_Wayback_Machine.mp3 {/play} Podcast: Play in new window   I'm a little under the weather (and Nicole Belle had to take a week off from our regular Monday morning Fools on the Hill segment), so we finished today's show with a trip in the Wayback Machine to November 9, 2007.  It was a year away from the 2008 election.  I was hosting the morning show at then-progressive talk 940 WINZ in Miami and, that morning, hosted my first and only interview with Chris Matthews.  He was having so much fun that he stayed on for an extra [...]

Today’s Show – Wed Nov 9

I don't know when or where this picture was taken - but it was obviously a few years ago, and is obviously Herman (Koch) Cain standing right next to Sharon Bialek.  Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive .... I opened the show this morning with some of Koch-Cain's more obvious lies and sickening statements...  Then we moved on to some good news.  After hearing today's  90 Second Summary from Main Street Insider I spoke with Jeremy Koulish about yesterday's election results -- it turned out to be a pretty good day [...]
