Phot-OH! #BlameObama

I still can't bring myself to write about the outrage, despair, and anger I feel about the election outcomes. But that doesn't mean I won't stop fighting for what's right, what's just, and what's liberal and progressive and good for the US of A. It only means that I won't subject myself to the stress that comes with ranting about the injustices and utter idiocy that we face, now that we have a Republican Congress. Instead, how about some facts? I'm no "Obama apologist," but credit where credit is due. Lately he's been executing some well-placed kicks in the ass. [...]

#RadioOrNot Exclusive: Disabled vet turned away for no voter ID in state not requiring IDs

This email was sent to me by a regular reader of mine, and will make your heads explode. Verbatim: First, I live in one of the Tea Party strongholds of the nation in Southern Delaware.. Yes Delaware is the home of Joe Biden, but the lower part of the state is not Biden country. Also, I am disabled US Army Paratrooper.. not combat disabled, instead I learned that you cannot fight gravity.. so I have spinal issues and non-combat PTSD from the injury. Which means I shut-in, and most of the time if you saw me you would probably think [...]

McConnell failed “to turn off the chainsaw behind his back during the press conference.”

Another snark-filled guest post by the one, the only Will Durst: OBAMA AND THE TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY To call the grotesque drubbing suffered by the Democratic Party in the midterms- monumental, is like referring to the surface of the sun as warm. The scene was so grisly, acutely sensitive Democrats (most of them) were forced to avert their eyes or risk anaphylactic shock. If you ever wanted to see numbers bleed, this was your night. Surprised no referee jumped onto the CNN set, rang a bell, and raised the Koch Brothers’ hands triumphantly in the air. The [...]

“Climate change ‘was not an issue at all, literally no salience with voters.'”

Ever feel like you're screaming, "Fire!!!!" in a burning building and nobody's listening? Check this out from the Los Angeles Times, and then link over to read the rest. It's an article about the millions Tom Steyer spent on climate change awareness in Tuesday's election, and of course, backing candidates who are not so comatose that they ignore what's happening to our planet: The GOP takeover of the Senate occurs as the science of climate change has grown more definitive and the predictions of widespread effects more detailed and dire. On Sunday, a panel of hundreds of climate scientists convened by [...]

“The big winners were the Koch brothers, Karl Rove and their colleagues.”

I read a tweet the other day that said the winners of the midterm elections were black lung and poverty. I've been too frustrated, disappointed, disheartened, and plain old angry to write up my feelings about the election outcome. I won't give up fighting for what's right (meaning, left), but right now I'm in no mood to put my thoughts down, because concentrating that hard on a topic that infuriates me that much will just intensify my feelings. Besides, I am trying my best to obey my doctor's orders and de-stress as much as possible. So instead, here are today's Los [...]

Voter ID, Schmoter ID: “You’d think GOP was organizing competitive kitten clubbings. Again.”

Another snark-filled guest post by the one, the only Will Durst: ONE MAN. ONE VOTE. Whiners. Bounders. Ingrates. Talking about the incessant griping and sniping currently buzzing over long overdue Republican reforms requiring citizens to produce a government issued ID before casting a vote. From the outcry you’d think the GOP was organizing competitive kitten clubbings. Again. Oh for crum’s sakes, settle down people. It’s just an ID. You need one to fly or buy or ply or even take out a library book. What is wrong with insuring the integrity of the electoral process? This isn’t voter suppression, it’s voter [...]

Voting rights gutted in #WI: “Judicially imposed chaos.”

Last night, Rachel Maddow laid out disturbing Wisconsin Voter ID Law details. Republicans resort to cheating, gerrymandering, and voter suppression because they have nothing to run on. They've been on the losing side of the issues, their congressional leaders rely on obstruction rather than legislation, and their state legislators and governors eliminate voting rights in order to eliminate Democratic voters. They continue to be the party of discrimination. Rachel: Wisconsin is a state that has never had a documented case of voter fraud by way of impersonation... That's the kind of voter fraud that would, conceivably, be put off, deterred, stopped by [...]

To those considering sitting out the November elections…

The Los Angeles Times letter to the editor below illustrates the stark differences between Democrats and Republicans. My frustration, anxiety, and concern have grown recently as the number of polls showing the chances of a GOP Senate takeover have increased. If Dems and Independents don't get their asses to the polls, those predictions will become a reality. And that reality will spawn more realities, scary ones, that will make the mess this country is in now look like paradise. So before deciding to sit out the elections in November, please think again: Like what happened to abortion clinics in Texas? Then don't vote. [...]

“There’s a reason Congress repulses the people of the U.S.” (VIDEO)

A few days ago, I posted this: “It’s starting to look like an Iraq War.” Where’s Congress? Rachel Maddow picked up where that left off. She was reporting on the Senate's passage of expanding the training of Syrian rebels. Then she got a little sidetracked, and for good reason. VERY good reason: And in completely unrelated news, the United States military continues to wage a war against ISIS... Congress has yet to say anything about that use of force by the U.S. military in Iraq, let alone the 1600 American troops that have been deployed back to Iraq to take part in [...]

“It’s starting to look like an Iraq War.” Where’s Congress?

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy Watch and listen carefully. Rachel Maddow lays out exactly what we're up against in this "fight against ISIS" that, per new polls, Americans have started to support. But ISIS has anti-aircraft artillery. The group upon which we're dropping bombs inside Iraq? They have anti-aircraft weapons. That means pilots and crews who are dropping bombs are at risk. P.S. and by the way, this is not being called "combat," yet pilots and crews fighting ISIS can be shot down. Rachel: So politically, it may be very convenient to say [...]
