The weekend was filled with memories, both of that awful day and the days surrounding it. Life changed. We were all affected by the events of that day, and still are. Some of the ways are only now becoming apparent. Today, I welcome Katrina vanden Heuvel, Publisher and Editorial Director of The Nation, back to the show. It's been a while [...]
Download here or click below to play, (or watch the video at the bottom of the page!) The last US troops departed Afghanistan yesterday, ending our longest war ever. Please let this be the last one (though I know it won't be). Because we live in opposite world, I feel as if I have to defend Joe Biden. He's the only president in the last 20 years who had the balls to actually get us out of that quagmire, despite the political attacks on him. We'll hear some of the officials explain the situation and, once again, will speak [...]

Since leaving his post as president of Reprise Records years ago, Howie has put his energies to work to make the US a more progressive nation. To that end, he blogs at DownWithTyranny.com, and founded the Blue America PAC. Along with Digby and Crooks & Liars' John Amato, Howie vets potential candidates, and helps the true progressives among them by raising money and helping to get others on board. Today, one of Blue America's endorsed [...]

Much of it change we've seen before, and should be a giant red flag warning us about history repeating! If I could play music on this show, I would have opened today with this one. Do yourself a favor and watch the Propellerheads featuring Shirley Bassey. This is genius! https://youtu.be/yzLT6_TQmq8 After 20-year occupation, the US is removing all remaining troops from Afghanistan. The exit [...]
Download here or click below to play, (or watch the video at the bottom of the page!) I took today off to celebrate my husband's birthday with our first night out since last March! Instead of just running an old show, I put something together for you today. We start with the news, such as it was this morning. Then, following up on our conversation about war yesterday, I pulled out my last (and final) interview with General Wesley Clark. It was June of 2014, and ISIS was gaining ground in Iraq, and it looked like we were [...]
Download here or click below to play, (or watch the video at the bottom of the page!) Today, we're talking about war. As the song says, it's good for absolutely nothing, yet we seem to be in a never-ending series of wars. All eyes today are on Israel and the Palestinians in Gaza, and the situation seems to be getting worse. I'll check in with Ron Skolnik, an American-Israeli writer and communications consultant for Partners for Progressive Israel (and an elementary school classmate of mine) for some perspective on what's going on over there. Then we'll turn to [...]
Thirty years ago today, I was the producer of biggest morning radio show in Los Angeles - The Mark & Brian Show at KLOS. It was the eve of the first Gulf War, and we teamed up with the USO to travel to Saudi Arabia to do a radio show and deliver holiday gifts to the troops stationed there. Here's the diary I kept of that trip. Monday, Dec 17, 1990 12:50 PM (Los Angeles time) We are on MGM Grand Air — flying over South Dakota. Mark & Brian and I are flying to Saudi Arabia to broadcast back to the [...]

Just click to play: or download here Donald Trump spoke to the American people today, after Iran retaliated against his assassination of Iran's top general by bombing US military sites in Iraq. We'll try to figure out what it all means. After a few minutes of that, we moved on to hear an interview I taped with Cenk Uygur, founder of The Young Turks, who's running for Congress from CA-25 to replace Katie Hill.
