Now is the Time

President Obama went big yesterday with his proposals on gun safety.  With 23 Executive actions and proposed legislation that he'll send to Congress as soon as tomorrow, he's stepped up to try to keep Americans safe from people with weapons of war. There are a few things that we, as concerned citizens, must do: Read the proposals put out by the White House.  It won't take you long, and being informed is the first and most important step to combating the insanity from the gun nuts. Call your representatives.  If you don't know who your Congressman is, click here to [...]

Welcome Back Grayson (and more things to be thankful for)

Today is a day two years in the making.  Two years ago, as the 112th Congress was being sworn in, I was feeling badly that my favorite Congressman had been targeted and defeated and therefore wasn't returning for his second term.  I picked up the phone and called the number I had for Alan Grayson and, to my surprise, he answered. We had a lovely conversation and I've enjoyed being able to count him as a friend.  And today, I'm brimming with pride and joy that he is, once again, being sworn in as a member of the US House [...]

Yes, We’re Live Today!

The end of the year is approaching.  It's that dead week between Christmas and New Years that's usually dead time in the media.  All of the "progressive talk" shows are playing repeats, except for the Randi Rhodes Show which has me!  So, be sure to tune in from 3-6 ET this afternoon as we continue our look back at 2012, today hitting on the War on Women.  She's History's Amy Simon will join in with some highlights. We're also on top of whatever news is being made.  Right now, President Obama and the Senate is returning to DC to [...]

Fast Food Forward Thursday

The website, on which you can sign up to stand in solidarity with these underpaid workers, has some great information: We can't survive on $7.25! In America, people who work hard should be able to afford basic necessities like groceries, rent, childcare and transportation. While fast food corporations reap the benefits of [...]

My Birthday Wish

That's me... 53 years ago Sunday. My birthday often falls on election day. Ronald Reagan was elected on my 21st birthday. My first time in the voting booth, and I proudly voted for the candidate that lost. Barack Obama made history on my 49th birthday.  And this year, my big day comes two days before election day. People who regularly listen to my show and read this blog know that I always call things the way I see them.  Because of that, I've been attacked with pseudo-insults ever since by so-called liberals.  I've been called "emo-prog" and "firebagger" (whatever [...]
