10-02-19 Nicole Sandler Show – The Public Trust with John Kiriakou and Doug White

Here at the Nicole Sandler Show, we work hard to bring you up to date on the latest breaking news.. and there's much to keep up with. Following today's recap, Nicole reaches out to torture whistleblower John Kiriakou for a discussion about the 'new' whistleblower, the process involved and what his or her future probably looks like. He's written three amazing books about his experience, and has a new article up concerning the current situation at Consortium News. Then, we're joined by Doug White, author of a new book, "Wounded Charity," about the alleged scandal that almost destroyed [...]

11-15-18 Nicole Sandler Show – Thursday with Digby

Trump is melting down! Apparently the big GOP losses in last week's midterms, his much-criticized trip to Paris, and the Wall Street Journal expose about his hush money payoffs have all gotten to him. Heather "Digby" Parton wrote about it for Salon, and joins us today to talk about it, how the Blue America-endorsed candidates did last week, and more... To start the show today, I played an amazing parody of "Bohemian Rhapsody". Enjoy!

Nukes, Liberals and the End of the World

That was today's show in a nutshell... Well, the nut part was the talk about the rapture. But let's start with the serious stuff first. Nuclear power.  When the end of the world does come, it'll be due to nukes... whether of the plants of mass destruction (my new name for nuclear power plants) or nuclear weapons. And the way things are going, it could happen soon. Very soon. But we do have a chance to save the world. Harvey Wasserman - the guy behind MUSE (Musicians United for Safe Energy) back in the 70s - has never stopped fighting [...]

Friday, revisited

I don't usually do a show on Fridays.  I was planning to spend Friday doing what I did for the rest of the weekend -- packing everything that was left in my soon-to-be former house.  But I awoke to an email asking if I could start my week-long fill-in stint for Randi Rhodes as day earlier, as her dog Simon had taken a turn for the worse. So, fill-in I did, gladly.  It turned out to be a pretty great show.  And I was happy to be working doing something I love rather than working packing and moving, if you [...]

This Is What Disaster Looks Like

It's tragic. My heart goes out to the people of Japan who should be dealing with the aftermath of one of the worst natural disasters of all time - a 9.0 magnitude earthquake, followed by a powerful tsunami that wiped out entire towns.  But instead of beginning the process of grieving and rebuilding, the Japanese are now bracing for an even bigger disaster - this one entirely avoidable. The man-made nuclear power plants are just no match for mother nature. Last night, the Japanese Prime Minister delivered a very uncharacteristic speech in which he cautioned that "dangerous levels of radioactivity [...]

This is What Democracy Looks Like

You can find it online, but not on your TV.  As Bruce Springsteen said, "57 channels and nothing on" -- except now it's 557 channels, and still no coverage of the huge protests that went on this weekend in Wisconsin and other cities here in the US.  But I have a feeling if this was an astroturf rally comprised of people sporting teabags and misspelled hate filled signs, we'd be inundated with made-up details. Thank God for the interwebs.  The above picture came courtesy of the Political Carnival.  Live streaming of the massive protests was provided by The Uptake.  (An [...]
