We made it to another Monday after a weekend of more news that would be unbelievable at any other time in history, but here we are with a president (sic) who says he doesn’t know if he must uphold the Constitution. We truly are living in Opposite World.

Each Monday we check in with Jonathan Larsen of thefuckingnews.substack.com to talk about wtf is going on in this surreal world. Sadly, there’s a whole lot to talk about today…

I opened the show with a few more words about the loss of an amazing singer/songwriter/artist/extraordinary human being Jill Sobule.    I’ve known and adored Jill for 30 years. We met when I was doing music radio in Los Angeles and we played her first single on the air.  She was also very into politics, so when I moved out of music into the world of progressive talk, she continued to come on the air with me.  I got the news of her death late Thursday. On Friday’s show, I spoke very briefly about Jill because we have Marcy Wheeler on Fridays.

Tomorrow, I will devote the entire hour to her. On September 2, 2009, my show was on Air America Radio. That week, I was broadcasting live from Los Angeles. Jill and Don Was, who produced the album she had just released, joined me in the studio for the whole hour. I found the audio of that this weekend, and will air it in its entirety on tomorrow’s show.
