I Told You My Congressman Was Insane

Allen West is not only a coward and a war criminal. He’s also a misogynist.  The newest evidence that all of those allegations are true comes from the pen of the congressman himself. Yesterday, DNC Chair and member of Congress Debbie Wasserman-Schultz gave a fairly typical, albeit tough, floor speech on the topic of HR 2560 – the “Cut, Cap and Balance” bill that, as she said, is like the Ryan plan on steroids.  Here is the entirety of her speech: Did you catch where she “directed [her] floor speech comments directly towards [Allen West]”?  [...]

More From Netroots Nation

The best part of attending Netroots Nation is that I get to talk to so many fascinating people.  I broadcast live from the exhibit hall Thursday morning with a terrific group of guests... and had my tape recorder with me at all times, which came in very handy. Today on the show, I played my interviews with Congresswoman Donna Edwards, Congressman Raul Grijalva, and The Nation's John Nichols. I also played my conversation with Lois Frankel - the second Democratic candidate for congress from Florida's 22nd district, challenging Allen West.  (Yesterday, we heard my interview with the other [...]

Sending Allen West Packing, and Breitbart too

My highest priority in Nov 2012 is making sure Allen West is sent home.  That guy should be in a military brig, and certainly nowhere near a congressional office.  Thankfully, we have two Democrats vying to unseat him.  Last week, at Netroots Nation, I had the opportunity to speak with them both. This morning on the show, I played my interview with Patrick Murphy, a first time candidate for public office.  Tomorrow morning, we'll hear my interview with former West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel. I'll save my comments for after tomorrow's show, and after you've had a [...]

Today on the Randi Rhodes Show!

Yes, I'm filling in for Randi again today, and we have a great show lined up for you... Although the South Florida Sun Sentinel continues to mis-characterize what I was doing at an event put on by my congressman and advertised as a town hall meeting...  I went to ask my congressman a question, and to have him hear what I had to say.  Isn't that what town hall meetings are for? Anyway, in today's paper, the headline reads "Protester arrested at Congressman Allen West's town hall meeting won't be prosecuted".  I wasn't there as a "protester," I wasn't a "heckler" [...]

And Some Wonder Why Newspapers Are Dying?

The South Florida Sun Sentinel shows their anti-Democrat bias on a daily basis.  I know first-hand based on their coverage of my arrest after attending what was billed as a "town hall meeting" by my congressman, and attempting to ask a question clarifying his positions on the Republican-Paul Ryan plan to kill Medicaid. They refer to me as a "heckler" and someone "trying to score political points" when I actually attended as a constituent concerned over how my congressional representing was "representing" me. In today's paper, I'm referred to in the headline as a "protester".  Although  I have and will [...]

Perplexing Questions

I used to keep a list of those pesky perplexing questions...  the things that will make your brain hurt.  Questions like Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Why do chefs wear those big white hats? Why is it that when you're driving and looking for an address, you turn down the volume on the radio? Why do you drive on parkways, but park on driveways? Why are there interstate highways in Hawaii? Why do noses run while feet smell? How would privatizing Medicare make it more efficient? What health insurance company would sell a policyto a 75 year [...]

The Hypocrisy of Allen West

Thanks to the awesome Stephen Goldstein for this editorial in yesterday's South Florida Sun Sentinel West's hypocrisy: Talk-show host deserves apology Stephen Goldstein Columnist May 15, 2011 If the original Boston tea partiers had had to follow Congressman Allen West's rules, we'd still be a British colony. He needs to "man up" and apologize to radio talk-show host Nicole Sandler. She was arrested at one of his recent town hall meetings for the crime of exercising her First Amendment right — and "becoming physically aggressive," according to the police report, a charge which she denies. It shocked and grieved me to [...]

On HR3, Osama bin Laden, and Allen West’s Very Small Penis

Quite a show today... David Dayen, who always does a great job covering the news for FireDogLake, joined me near the top of the show to give the details on yesterday's passage of HR3 - the anti-choice bill - by the House of Representatives.  Sixteen so-called Democrats joined with all the Republicans to limit women's rights to control our own bodies. Where are the jobs, Mr. Boehner? Jason Leopold, deputy managing editor of Truthout.org, has done extensive investigative reporting on Guantanamo Bay, including exclusive interviews with former guards and detainees.  He joined the show this morning to cut through the [...]

Man Up Allen West!

Yesterday, I read the latest "newsletter" from Congressman Allen West.  It was more of a smear letter than a newsletter, but what do you expect from someone who doesn't allow people with dissenting points of view to speak at a "town hall meeting"? One of the key parts was I must share these two funny anecdotes; first was the response to a question from a woman at the Boca Raton town hall which inspired this woman to stand and shout, “That was my question and you did not answer it the way I wanted you to.” Now, if [...]

Wars, Lies, and Videotape

***Update added -- scroll down*** The only thing missing was the sex.  We learned a few things this week: War is NOT the way to combat terrorism. You can take out a terrorist with trained soldiers, and don't have to drop a single bomb in innocent civilians. The so-called Tea Party believes that only they are entitled to speak freely; the rest of us are only allowed to agree with them, or remain silent. Ft. Lauderdale Police and Broward County Sheriff's deputies LIE incessantly The idea of the presumption of innocence until proven guilty is a myth in the United [...]
