Walk Like a Wisconsinite

Kudos to the good people of Wisconsin for taking to the streets and standing up to their dictatorial new governor who wants to strip collective bargaining rights from state workers.  John Nichols is the Washington correspondent for The Nation, though he lives in Wisconsin.  He wrote about what's happening there, and joined us for a few minutes this morning to tell us about it too. As democracy is spreading virally thought the middle east, I'm hoping that people in the US will take notice of what's happening in Wisconsin and follow their lead. To be continued... And although I'm not [...]

No Vote No Future

We are coming down to the wire.  I'll be voting tomorrow. As the following two videos show - one using clever production techniques and scare tactics and the other using that all-too-valuable but becoming ever-scarce and somehow vilified common sense - it's time to put up or shut up. First, we look to our friends at MoveOn.org, whose RepubliCorp campaign is nothing short of brilliant.  In fact, it was in keeping with this idea that Lauren Valle had her head stomped on by a Rand Paul campaign worker when she held up a sign proclaiming Paul "RepubliCorp Employee of the [...]

Tony Curtis & Me – The Thursday Nicole Sandler Show

RIP Tony Curtis.  Yes, there's a story to go along with the photo.  From 1990-1994, I produced the Mark & Brian Show at KLOS in Los Angeles.  Each year, we'd put on a ridiculously extravagent Christmas show.  Tony Curtis had appeared on the show to promote his book and, if memory serves, he returned to read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" at the Christmas show. Tony took a liking to me.  His publicist must have given him my phone number, as Tony was relentless in his pursuit.  I finally had to tell him that I simply wasn't interested.  He took [...]

Mike Castle Beat the 41-Year Old Virgin-You Can’t Prove Otherwise!

I live in Florida, and have experience first hand the problems with touch screen voting machines.  If you've never seen the movie Hacking Democracy, I urge you to watch it now.  It'll make this story a whole lot more troublesome to you. Or you can bury your head in the sand the way most of the country seems to be doing. As Brad Friedman of BradBlog reports, From the State of Delaware's Elections website with 100% reporting: Verifiable Paper-Based Absentee Results: CASTLE: 54.7% - O'DONNELL: 45.3% Unverifiable Election Day E-Voting Machine Results: CASTLE: 46.7% - O'DONNELL: 53.3% This is a [...]

7-22-10 Nicole Sandler Show live from Netroots Nation

I was finally able to get online long enough to upload yesterday's show... My guests included BradBlog's Brad Friedman, Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas, Alaska blogger/broadcaster Shannyn Moore and Mudflats' Jeanne Devon, Senatorial candidates Scott McAdams from Alaska and Rodney Glassman of Arizona, DFA executive director Arshad Hasan, Netroots Nation exec director Raven Brooks, Democracy Now's Amy Goodman and more... More to come soon...

Netroots Nation with Markos Moulitsas & Brad Friedman

The biggest challenge for me at Netroots Nation is not my broken foot, but the fact that it's been impossible to get a decent internet connection.  But I keep trying, and am finally available to, slowly, get the podcasts uploaded (I hope!). I'll podcast the whole of yesterday's show shortly, but wanted to get this interview with Markos & Brad up first...  Enjoy!
