I know that's not necessarily a good thing to publicly announce, but I'm not about to start lying about my age now. That said, I am among the last of the Boomers, having been born in November of 1959. If you wonder why it matters, you probably should read THE AFTERMATH: THE LAST DAYS OF THE BABY BOOM AND THE FUTURE OF POWER IN AMERICA, the new book from Washington Post columnist [...]
Download here or click below to play, (or watch the video at the bottom of the page!) Monday is Memorial Day. It's the one day set aside each year to remember US military members killed in the line of duty. Certainly worthy of the recognition. But we have a growing number of dead citizens who are victims of gun violence. It's time to recognize that growing group of bodies, which we are powerless to stop. Actually, we're not powerless. Unfortunately the people who were elected to represent us in Congress are the ones who've ceded their power, mostly to big [...]
The nation is reeling today after two mass shootings this weekend, 13 hours apart. One in El Paso, TX, the second in Dayton, OH. 22 innocent souls were taken in El Paso by a guy with alleged racist tendencies, and another 9 were killed by a man with obvious psychological problems in Dayton. Today, I'm joined by Tim Wise. He's an author, educator, speaker, podcaster and more whose area of expertise is racism and the obliteration of it. It should be a fascinating conversation today. During the first part of the show, I spoke about an article I [...]

Wesley Lowery was Tweeting from a McDonald's in Ferguson, MO, [...]

As we wrap up a week most of us would prefer to forget, Nicole takes us back six years to Sept 1, 2009 and Air America Radio. She broadcast her show from LA that week, and had some special guests. Today, we'll listen to her visit from singer/songwriter Jill Sobule and music legend Don Was! Julianna Forlano helps recap the week in absurd news too.
We've officially passed the period known as the Dog Days of Summer, but yesterday was National Dog Day, when American attempted to comfort ourselves by posting pictures of our precious pups. We did it to escape the painful news of the day, which included at least TWO shootings in which at least two people were killed, Life in America. Today, we'll deal with the aftermath, plus talk with Harvey J. Kaye and Howie Klein.
Nicole talks about the news, including three mass shootings yesterday, the Bill Clinton for First Lady campaign, and Republican nonsense with her guests, Cliff Schecter and @GottaLaff. Plus Huffington Post's Zach Carter gets us started with a TPP secrecy update.
