Download here or click below to play, (or watch the video at the bottom of the page!) Pagan that I am, I tend to celebrate the more off-beat than traditional holidays. That's why I'm an ordained minister in the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (that's really true). I could officiate at a wedding, though I'd have to obtain some other credential from my county, but I digress... Since Festivus this year falls on a Thursday (and that's when we have Howie Klein here), I decided to make an executive decision to celebrate Festivus on it's Eve-- today. So [...]
Download here or click below to play It is the under-observed holiday of Festivus, when we air our grievances and someone performs feats of strength. I've got plenty of grievances to air. This is still 2020, after all. Unfortunately, I have an entire 2020 full of grievances and more, but Donald Trump hijacked it all with his actions over the last 24 hours. The feats of strength today will be of an economic nature, as Stephanie Kelton- author of The Deficit Myth: Modern Monetary Theory and the Birth of the People's Economy -- guests, and explains that we are [...]
I could blame the tardiness of this post on the holidays... This year, Christmas, Channukah, Kwanzaa and Festivus all fell at virtually the same time, so it was a big deal... for some. Frankly, I like this time of the year because it's the end of the year and the beginning of a new one. My biggest grievance from 2016 is......(drumroll).... everything. This was an awful year. From lung cancer to Donald Trump -- that about says it all! Another grievance is my phone system. I'll have to figure that one out... In the meantime, this was a very fun [...]
Today is Festivus and Nicole Sandler leads us in the traditional Airing of the Grievances! Deborah Newell Tornello joins in to air her FloriDUH grievances. And an unlikely senate candidate, Steven Machat, tells us why he thinks he can win Marco Rubio's seat.
It's Festivus, so Nicole joins Pope Francis in the Airing of Grievances, one of the Festivus traditions. The Nation's John Nichols gives us a preview of this year's Progressive Honor Roll, and we visit with @GottaLaff for the last time in 2014
Although that's how Hollywood depicts Jesus, history tells us he didn't quite look like that. But don't expect to hear facts from your favorite newsmodel at the Fox "News" Network. Fox's "Rising Star"™ Megyn Kelly tells us that, in response to a Slate piece entitled "Santa Claus Should Not Be A White Many Anymore": "...for all you kids watching at home, Santa just is white, but this person is just arguing that, that maybe we should also have a black Santa. But you know, Santa is what he is and just so you know, we're just debating this cuz someone [...]
It's that time of year again. We somehow survived another presidential election, the beginning of the end of marijuana prohibition and, finally, widespread recognition of everyone's right to marry to person he or she loves, regardless of gender. We even survived the apocalyptic end of the world. Unfortunately, not all of us survived. Some perished at the hand of a madman with a gun. But perhaps we finally reached the tipping point, and things will start to get better and saner. At least we can hope, and try to make it so. I'm not a religious person, but I [...]
