Dueling Platforms

Last week we shuddered as we read the ideals the Republican Party stands for as they released the official 2012 Republican Party Platform.  Talk about a giant leap backwards...  Courtesy of ThinkProgress, here are some of the standout parts: NO ABORTION IN CASES OF RAPE OR INCEST. The proposal for a “human life amendment”passed without a hitch — and without any exceptions for rape or incest. The committee didn’t stop there; they also adopted language that would ban drugs that end pregnancy after conception, which could potentially include Plan B, the “morning after pill.” SALUTE TO MANDATORY ULTRASOUNDS. The GOP officially praises states’ “informed [...]

Point- Counterpoint

Listen to this episode: {play}http://traffic.libsyn.com/radioornot/20120718_Nicole_Sandler_Show_-_Point_Counterpoint.mp3 {/play} Podcast: Play in new window   Today, we heard two sides from the left. From the Democratic party, chair of the DNC - Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz joined in to talk about President Obama's visit to Florida (tomorrow and Friday - info & ticket sign-up can be found here!). Debbie and I have been been speaking on the radio for a number of years now, and I've always challenged her with the tough questions. Today was no different.  I asked about a few things on my mind, including why the Democratic party uses contributor [...]

Wearing a Uniform Makes You a Soldier, Not a Hero

Listen to this episode: {play}http://traffic.libsyn.com/radioornot/20120529_Nicole_Sandler_Show.mp3 {/play} Podcast: Play in new window   That guy looks like a hero.  He's risking his life to save another.  Many Americans who don the uniform are also heroes, but many are not.  And not all who are killed in the line of duty deserve the description of hero. he·ro/ˈhi(ə)rō/   Noun: A person, typically a man, who is admired for courage or noble qualities. The chief male character in a book, play, or movie, who is typically identified with good qualities. I watch Up With Chris Hayes Sunday morning, as is my usual routine. [...]

What About Wisconsin?

Listen to this episode: {play} http://traffic.libsyn.com/radioornot/20120524_Nicole_Sandler_Show_-_What_About_Wisconsin.mp3 {/play} Podcast: Play in new window Election Day in Wisconsin is less than two weeks ago. Early voting is underway. And the Democratic Party is nowhere in sight.  The DNC issued a tepid response to the recent outcry of their lack of monetary support by stating that Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz would head to Wisconsin "by the end of the month" to hold a fundraiser.  From what I hear, they need money, not a visit from Debbie! After attempting to call the DNC offices earlier this week (I got no answer), I sent an email [...]

Malloy from Radio to Or Not

{play}http://traffic.libsyn.com/radioornot/20120516_Nicole_Sandler_Show_-_Malloy.mp3{/play}  PODCAST: Play in new window Yes, you read right. Mike Malloy crosses over from the traditional world of terrestrial radio to the alternative ...or not world of the interwebs.  Well, for a short while, anyway, as he is my guest on the show this morning. I'm writing this early, as I have a very busy day, and want links and videos posted ... so who knows where our conversation will go.  All I know is you won't want to miss it. We'll chat with another outspoken voice - Cliff Schecter - in the first hour.   And I have [...]
