That unfettered capitalism that the Pope recently decried was on full display this holiday weekend in all its ugliness.

A San Diego man, dressed as Santa, decided to ridicule all the idiots lined up on Thanksgiving night to save a couple of bucks:

Of course, it wasn’t only the lowly minimum-wage workers who had to leave their family gatherings early to wait on the gluttons, but the police who were called in to work too.  At least one Black Friday death was reported, plus stabbings, tramplings and general fights over stuff.  It’s worth a click here to see some of the videos shot at various Walmart locations to see these animals in their true habitat.

And the trend has spawned a website called Black Friday Death Count.

Today on the show, I welcomed Cliff Schecter to discuss some of the craziness as we embark upon December.

And, as we do each Monday morning, I was joined  by Nicole Belle who tells us what we miss every Sunday by not watching the talking head shows…

Someday, when the historians look back at this time, it will make an interesting study to look at how conventional wisdom was developed.  There appears to be a concerted effort by the Washington media, which we derisively refer to as the Villagers, to really further conservative talking points into conventional wisdom.

Take, for example, this panel on Meet the Press, who generally demanded that everyone agreed that the government isn’t the solution for our problems.

And Candy Crowley went after Howard Dean, when he refused to play along with the bash Obama agenda on ACA, interrupting him to remind him that he really didn’t like the program from the beginning.

Ironically—or maybe it was just the mimosas in the green room—Peggy Noonan accidentally made the case for single payer in her attempt to bash Obama.

Rep. Mike Rogers doesn’t think that health care reform is worth doing if it only helps a “few” Americans.  Should we tell him that a “few” equals 48 million?

Can I ask again why anyone should care about Rick Santorum’s opinion on anything?  Nevertheless, since he is a guaranteed Obama-basher, CNN was only too eager to let him predictably champion the religious rights of corporations’ over women’s health issues.
