Heroes and Villains

This morning on the show, I spoke with a couple of heroes and about a couple of villains. Let's begin with the good guys.  His schedulers must have screwed up, but Congressman Raul Grijalva did call in near the end of the first hour of the show.  Better late than never! Grijalva is the co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus; they released their Budget 4 All to zero fanfare or media attention.  But it demands a look as, once again, it makes sense and is the best thing out there! In the second hour, I was joined by another of [...]

Who’ll Be The Last To Die For A Mistake?

I don't know the answer, but the mistake in Afghanistan will last for, at least, three more years.  In case you didn't hear the president's speech last night, you can watch it here: This morning on my show, I spoke with Derrick Crowe of Rethink Afghanistan and Richard Allen Smith, Vice Chairman of VoteVets to get their opinions. Although their reasons differed slightly, they both agreed with me that the plan doesn't get our troops home nearly quickly enough. If you haven't yet watched Rethink Afghanistan, please follow the link and watch the documentary.  I think that, after you do, [...]

Ding Dong DADT is Dead!

We witnessed history this morning, as President Obama asserted that all men and women are created equal, and signed the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell into Law! As I write this post (delayed because I was watching the ceremony live), I'm playing back my interview with Lt. Dan Choi, recorded this summer at Netroots Nation. I have no guests booked for this morning's show, as I knew we'd be celebrating this huge step forward for civil rights. I'm not sure what else today's show will bring... we'll see what happens over the next couple of hours.  You [...]

It’s A Big Day For Equality

I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Lt. Dan Choi this summer at Netroots Nation in Las Vegas.  Yes, I'm very proud of the picture above.  And I'm thrilled that Dan will join me on the air this morning, on the day that we'll see what our members of the US Senate are made of. Of course we know that John McCain, who's leading the charge on a filibuster of the Defense Authorization Bill because it includes a provision that would repeal the discriminatory Don't Ask Don't Tell policy, is a pandering, homophobic, bigoted, coward.  Sen. Jim Webb is [...]

What Happened in Vegas will be Heard on the Radio!

Yes, on tonight's show, I'll share some of the highlights of Netroots Nation, which wrapped up yesterday in Las Vegas.  I made it through with little injury, despite my best efforts. I thoroughly embarrassed myself in front of Amy Goodman, Brad Friedman, Jason Leopold, Shannyn Moore, Jeanne Devon, and a whole host of others... but some of them embarrassed themselves too! I was fortunate enough to do the show from the exhibit hall on Thursday (just scroll down to listen to the show with Amy Goodman, Brad Friedman, Shannyn Moore, Jeanne Devon, Markos Moulitsas, the executive directors of [...]
