CIA-waterboarding

Torture Tuesday has arrived! The long-awaited Executive Summary of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Study of the CIA’s Detention and Interrogation Program.

The 500+ page summary was released during the show today, so I’ve not had a chance to read it yet. But the analyses are already coming…

At Vice News, Jason Leopold already wrote “Senate Torture Report Finds the CIA Was Less Effective and More Brutal Than Anyone Knew,” the Daily Beast gives us “The Most Gruesome Moments in the CIA’s ‘Torture Report’,” and from Salon, “10 Appalling Findings in the Torture Report” .

Of course, Marcy Wheeler dug into the report as soon as she got off the air with me this morning, already offering “SSCI Torture Report Key: They Knew It was Torture, Knew It Was Illegal.” Stay tuned for more.

After Marcy left to read about torture, Digby joined me. We talked about how far we’ve fallen as a nation – between torture and our race problem, we have a long way back to being exceptional.

Tomorrow, Chase Madar will explain how difficult it is to get an indictment against a cop, and Susie Madrak returns… radio or not!
