While most of the other shows are airing repeats or “Best of’s” – we’ll be live on the Randi Rhodes Show.  She’s on vacation, but I have the privilege of guest hosting!

I was never quite sure what Boxing Day was, other than the day after Christmas.  So imagine my surprise when I went to wikipedia and found this description:

Boxing Day is traditionally a day following Christmas when wealthy people in the United Kingdom would give a box containing a gift to their servants.

[1] Today, Boxing Day is better known as a bank or public holiday that occurs on December 26, or the first or second weekday after Christmas Day, depending on national or regional laws. It is observed in Great Britain, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and some other Commonwealth nations.

The wealthy  people give their servants a box with a gift … why do that feel like an apt metaphor for the 99% vs the 1%?  However, we – the 99% – are still waiting for the gifts…

Today on the Randi Rhodes Show, I’ll be joined by the courageous LtDan Choi who came out in March of 2009 on the Rachel Maddow Show as a protest of the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy. He’s been a tireless crusader for LGBT rights, Bradley Manning and Occupy Wall Street.

In the second hour, I’ll speak with Slate’s Dave Weigel about the not-so-new revelations about Ron Paul, and we’ll also check Dave’s soothsayer skills.

And since Time magazine declared the Protester the Person of the Year, I thought we’d hone in on the female protester, and take a look back at her history.  I’ll be joined in the studio by my friend Amy Simon, cultural HERstorian, and writer and performer of She’s History: The Most Dangerous Women in History, Then and Now.

We’ll also continue our year in review…
