ISRAEL / GAZA
Resolution passes, despite US opposition, as body approves official inquiry into “all violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law”
Israel claims that it is merely exercising its right to self-defense and that Gaza is no longer occupied. Here’s what you need to know about these talking points and more.
“They are all enemy combatants, and their blood shall be on all their heads,” the post reads. “Now this also includes the mothers of the martyrs, who send them to hell with flowers and kisses. They should follow their sons, nothing would be more just. They should go, as should the physical homes in which they raised the snakes. Otherwise, more little snakes will be raised there.”
Posted at Facebook this morning: an interesting insight into how the media is reporting the Crisis in Gaza, from Naomi Wolf:
“Eran Efrati below posted an extremely important report alleging that Israeli soldiers are leaking to him sniper attacks on civilians in Gaza looking for their loved ones. He alleges the soldiers say this is collective punishment of I D F dead. I need to know if you are willing who you are Eran that is…a journalist? Aid worker? Citizen? And dates and location you got this info and the motivation for the soldiers leaking to you. Also post the YouTube video please you cite of the civilian being shot by sniper fire. I am having headsplitting experience of my editors saying that if the IDF denies an atrocity I can’t cite it. As if the IDF is a final unbiased arbiter of history.” Naomi Wolf
It is imperative not to be numbed by the death toll numbers reported every day from Gaza.If the same proportion of Americans were killed as Gazans in relation to the population in the past two weeks, it would equal over 172000 Americans dead.

“…. AMY GOODMAN: The AlterNet writer Max Blumenthal spoke to an anonymous NBC producer who, he said, described, quote, “a top-down intimidation campaign aimed at presenting an Israeli-centric view of the attack on the Gaza Strip,” unquote. In his piece for AlterNet, Blumenthal wrote, quote, “The NBC producer told me that MSNBC President Phil Griffin and NBC executives are micromanaging coverage of the crisis, closely monitoring contributors’ social media accounts and engaging in a

I posted this yesterday in the Chatroom.. Today Naomi Wolf commented about it this morning at facebook:
“So the new documents posted below from Hamas as of 2006 call for equal rights for all under the law….transparency..a hand extended to all…”The homeland is for all, it is the destiny and future of al..” This is QUITE DIFFERENT from the language still posted on AIPIAC-supported websites and widespread in Israel, that Hamas still calls for wiping out Israel and Israelis. This sounds more like the One-State solution I have been writing about. MAJOR CORRECTION OF THE RECORD. That said, who are “Samaritans”? If they are Jews/Israelis, fine with me. Also…it is nice to see this document titled “A New Hamas” but as a reporter I note that I still don;t know for sure that this is the last word since 2006…the wording could have gotten worse..and also I don’t know the status of this document. Is it just some random scholar? Or does it have formal status as the position of Hamas currently?”

The Larry Silverstein Award for Chutzpah Above and Beyond the Call of Duty has been awarded (unfortunately not posthumously) to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his recent statements blaming the “telegenic” victims of Israeli genocide
Some 7,000 protesters were estimated to attended in the biggest protest against the operation thus far, alongside a small protest in support of the IDF.
As in previous conflicts, Israel claims its right to defend itself in its current conflict with Hamas in the Gaza Strip. But its response, killing hundreds of civilians in response to the deaths of a few Israelis, is wildly disproportional and thus a violation of international law.

“It’s true because I say so!”
Saying, “It’s true because I say so”, hiding behind “sources and methods” when a reporter asks you for evidence, and subsequently citing social media as “evidence” Doesn’t pass the smell or the Laugh test.
