Just shy of a week after Randi Rhodes said goodbye to her radio show, Ed Schultz announced he’s ending his radio program too.
I have no idea what the circumstances are surrounding this decision, but I am disappointed that he gave no notice, leaving stations to scramble, and that he didn’t do this before Randi left the air, as there’s the possibility, with time opening up on some stations, that her should could have survived.
Either way, that’s water under the bridge now… I understand that Thom Hartmann will now move his show back to the noon-3pm ET time slot, where he broadcast before Ed Schultz decided to move his program there.
I’ve thrown my hat in the ring – let the people who are in the mix know that I’d gladly move the time of my show in order to get on the air… though I’m not holding my breath. As you know, I call things as I see them, and I’m already feeling the heat for criticizing Ed Schultz for the manner in which he did this.
Oh well… We’re here and if no one wants to step up to give this show a bigger megaphone, that’s fine too. We’ll stay here and keep building on what we’ve built so far, with your help!
Today, I was thrilled to welcome Frank Schaeffer back to the show. He and I have had many conversations about religion and religious hypocrisy over the years, beginning when his book, Crazy for God: How I Grew Up as One of the Elect, Helped Found the Religious Right, and Lived to Take All (or Almost All) of It Back, was published.
Today, we talked a bit about his new book, Why I’m an Atheist Who Believes in God, plus the Scalia version of Sharia law in light of how our Supreme Court has been ruling recently, and more.
Amy Simon of She’s History visited, and today spoke a bit about the firing of Jill Abramson by the NY Times and the double standard – in media and elsewhere.
We don’t usually do a show on Fridays, but that’ll change tomorrow. I have a few interviews I’ve recorded that I haven’t been able to share here yet. So, tomorrow, we’ll hear from Melissa Etheridge, Senator Bernie Sanders, and the former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia Tim Fisher, and more. And tonight, I’ll strip all the color from my hair to see what I look like without any dye, and if I can keep my courage up, will show up au natural…
