Although there’s no such thing as a slow news day any more, we know that real news is difficult to find. But if you know where to look, especially online, you will find lots of news about the Republican party’s war on labor.
Joshua Holland, Senior Writer/Editor at Alternet has been doing a great job, and he’ll join us today with the latest on the situation in Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio and the other states run by GOP despots who are trying to kill unions.
With our intervention in Libya, many are asking why we’re not helping the other oppressed people of the world. The Ivory Coast has been mentioned a lot in recent days, but many of us don’t know much about that western African nation. John Amato – founder/publisher of Crooks and Liars has been blogging about what’s happening there. He was also on the White House-bloggers conference call yesterday, and asked about the lack of aid to the people of Ivory Coast. He’ll join us today to tell us all about it.
And Gotta Laff will join in from The Political Carnival to talk about some of the stories we might otherwise have missed, including

As I was hitting the air, I came upon an op-ed piece at Marketwatch.com (of all places), that is spot on. I read some of it. Here’s the link for Paul B. Farrell’s piece “Tax The Super-Rich now or face a revolution“.
A caller several nights ago suggest Noam Chomsky as a possible guest.
Give me a frigging break already!!!!! Anyone who believes Chomsky is a radical should deconstruct his last three talks given around the country — where he sounds like both an apologist and promoter for Wall Street.
Chomsky has always been one hundred percent supportive of the status quo. Had Chomsky ever been an ethical thinker — or radical thinker of the stature of a Michael Parenti or Thorstein Veblen — there is no way he’d be allowed to continue his tenure at M.I.T.
Anyone who steps out of line is fired — whether at M.I.T., or Harvard, Princeton or Yale. That is why Obama’s recent appointee to the Supreme Court, Elena Kagan, ONLY hired Federalist Society members to Harvard’s law faculty — and you don’t get more neocon than the Federalist Society!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chomsky is just another high-level misinformation specialist — like Jeremy Rifkin, Kevin Phillips and a bunch of others.
On your Ivory Coast discussion: insufficient data; one can’t “solve for X” if one is ignorant of the existence of “X”, some important facts were missing from that discussion.
The Ivory Coast is the premier chocolate producer.
Five to six months prior to the murder, political turmoil and upheaval in Ivory Coast the chocolate market was cornered in the Netherlands [where the international trading and exchanges are] by some obscure hedge fund, if I recall correctly.
At that time, traders wondered as to the reason but now with the ensuing situation the value of the cornered market rises, and with the drop off of exports, it has risen further.
While the Corporate Fascist State propaganda networks (Foxtard, CNN, NPR) choose to ignore the obvious connections, the rest of us should not!
These are connected events. THEY are making profit and revenue from the perpetrated murder and mayhem.
This is how it works. This is how THEY roll.
Ms. Sandler’s question: Why are THEY – the Transnational Capitalist Class – so intent upon reducing the population of the American working people to serfdom and feudalism (a question I’ve heard an infinite number of times over 35 years of political activism)?
Because that is what THEY have always done. THEY have an obsessive, psychopathological and irrational need to own and control everything, just as the serial killer – whom they are closely aligned to – must randomly torture, kill, act upon in a necrophiliacal manner and finally cannibalize their victims – the answer to the question is insanity.
And there’s only one response to the demonically insane.
Your show rocks awesome, Ms. Sandler, truly it does!
Re: Last night’s show
I have to take issue with Greg Mitchell — if I understood him correctly — and definitely with P.J. Crowley as to the use of the term “torture” as applied to the heroic Bradley Manning — Mr. Manning is most assuredly being tortured!
I fear many reporters, and stenographers, are unable to comprehend what sleep deprivation means. Mr. Manning hasn’t had a solid night’s sleep in over 8 months — he is constantly awakened by his guards every so many minutes to give a them a verbal response — this was the same method they used to turn Padilla into a babbling idiot (during the Bush administration)!!!
Mr. Manning’s treatment is in direct violation of the UCMJ — yet another crime to be added to the list of war criminal Obama — and why Obama should be impeached for exactly the same reasons Bush and Cheney should have been impeached.
I completely disagreed with the nonsensical Michael Hersh, who both conveniently ignored the tremendous fallout from those Wikileaked state department cables, as well as his bizarre inference that Bush was attempting to “bring democracy” to Iraq! (Un — frigging — believable!!!!)
Let’s not forget that Obama came from years on the law faculty of the University of Chicago — not known for ever producing any democrats (the same for their econ dept.) — and the last well-known person to be spewed forth from that faculty was our neocon Justice on the US Supreme Court, and Dick Cheney’s favorite hunting buddy, Antonin Scalia.
One of Obama’s very first appointments was Diana Farrell, the queen of jobs offshoring (with McKinsey and formerly with Goldman Sachs).
Like Clinton before him, Obama solidly supports evermore “free trade agreements” to offshore the few remaining American jobs!
Room doesn’t permit me to list all of Obama’s bankster administration appointments, Monsanto appointments, pharmaceutical industry appointments and Goldman Sachs appointments, but they are gargantuan in number, and make for a 100% neocon-bankster administration!
I disagree that Obama has behaved weakly — he has behaved exactly as every previous Wall Street lackey behaved before him.
With regard to the Department of Justice, the F.B.I. and BP: Robert Mueller, present FBI director, appointed by George W. Bush, was first appointed to head the criminal justice division of the DOJ by George H.W. Bush when the BCCI investigation was getting close to the White House.
Mueller was reputed to have been pivotal in quashing that investigation (the chief enforcement official at the Treasury department at that time also happened to be a Bush cousin on the Walker side, John Walker, Jr., who is now a federal judge — thus Bush was covered in both Justice and at Treasury).
Also appointed to the Treasury — by George H.W. Bush — were Larry Summers and Timothy Geithner — later to be re-appointed by Bill Clinton, and still later to be re-appointed by President Obama!
Gee whiz — it’s like it’s always the same sleazoids — only the presidents change!
And lest anyone forget, Attorney General Eric Holder used to make the big bucks successfully defending the likes of Chiquita’s employment of assassins to murder union organizers and protesters in South America. (Chiquita was formerly known as United Fruit.)
Another recent neocon appointment, this time by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, one Marc Grossman, to replaced the deceased Richard Holbrooke (former director at A.I.G. and Perseus LLC), may sound familiar to some, as it was Marc Grossman’s name which first appeared in relation to the compromising of Valerie Plame’s covert identity with the C.I.A. (and by extension, compromising the C.I.A.’s WMD counter-proliferation operation, Brewster Jennings).
Grossman was supposed to have passed Ms. Plame’s name on to Richard Armitage, who in turn passed it on to Ari Fleischer and Scooter Libby, who broadcast it to the entire world.
Grossman, Armitage, Fleischer and Libby should all have been prosecuted under the National Security Act and jailed where the heroic whistleblower of war crimes and government treason, Bradley Manning, now resides.
Obama has now gone after, and jailed, more whistleblowers than all previous US presidents combined.
Obama has done old Joe McCarthy proud!
[A major shout out to my favorite caller and political commentator, Sanchez of Montibello!!!! Always a joy to hear from him.]
Take care and thanks for the colossal job, Ms. Sandler!
