Ever feel like you’re screaming, “Fire!!!!” in a burning building and nobody’s listening? Check this out from the Los Angeles Times, and then link over to read the rest. It’s an article about the millions Tom Steyer spent on climate change awareness in Tuesday’s election, and of course, backing candidates who are not so comatose that they ignore what’s happening to our planet:
The GOP takeover of the Senate occurs as the science of climate change has grown more definitive and the predictions of widespread effects more detailed and dire. On Sunday, a panel of hundreds of climate scientists convened by the United Nations warned that climate change driven by the burning of fossil fuels was already affecting life on every continent and in the oceans and that the window was closing rapidly for governments to avert the worst damage expected later this century.
Yet skepticism of climate science remains Republican orthodoxy.
Here’s the money line:
Steyer’s impact was “Zero. None. Zero,”
“Not an issue at all.” Life as we know it is at stake, but it’s “not an issue at all.” At the very least, our way of life will change drastically, national security will be at risk, food and water supplies will dwindle, entire swaths of land will be eroded and/or disappear, and countless Americans would be displaced. But climate change “has literally no salience with voters.”
People don’t give a damn, are in denial, or are so gullible that they’ll swallow whatever idiots like Jim Inhofe are feeding them. Read up, America. Do your homework.
Oh, and sleep well. The rest of us, the ones who don’t rely on ignorami to lead us down Masochist Lane, won’t.
That’s horrible. I hadn’t heard about this yet. Climate change really is, by far, the biggest issue. You know there are scientists now talking about how it’s going to wipe out all of our habitat and most plant & biological life on earth. I hear most climatologists stay hush about this ( this guy is not one of them –> http://motherboard.vice.com/read/if-we-release-a-small-fraction-of-arctic-carbon-were-fucked-climatologist ). If anyone can debunk the following I’ll be very happy – Once you think it through and realize how all the positive feedback loops of global warming, combined together, will eventually trigger the most intense feedback loop of all which is commonly called the ‘methane monster’ as some of you may know. 100 trillion tons of methane frozen (soon thawing?) underground all around the Arctic and elsewhere on earth. Methane is something like 86x more potent than CO2. Remember that huge, mysterious crater found in Siberia this winter? Anyone following that story learned that scientists conclude it was a gigantic deposit of methane that had thawed, mixed with salt and some other minerals, and exploded out from the permafrost. Very likely due to global warming, they add. That should have warned every damn voter in this country, everyone in the world actually. Many who see what’s going on say it’s too late though. Unfortunately — mark my words — some day that will be the republicans’ line. ‘Well it’s too late to do anything anyways! so we’re going to bring on more fracking, drilling, coal, ..’ They’re going to go from ‘it’s a hoax’ to ‘it’s too late to do anything anyways’.
Anyways, yes it’s astonishing that nobody cares about this issue, even if we are just to expect the common, totally underplayed worst case scenarios. Most Americans seem to think global warming is either not happening or, if it is happening, will just get as bad as some cities getting flooded 50-100 years from now and more storms. Oh hell no, it’s looking far worse. It’s incredible that the rich and powerful behind the industries mostly responsible for these problems — who have suppressed the truth, and alternative energy and sensible farming practices — could actually be responsible for a mass extinction event. Which, if it happens, will include our extinction.

Isn’t Voter Fraud the real threat.
