As much as I would have loved to see her go down on election night, the news that Michele Bachmann will not seek a 5th term in the US House of Representatives was a welcome way to start the day. My only regret is that the hard drive containing the last 5 years of news audio clips died last week, so I wasn’t able to pull together my own fitting tribute of her craziest statements.
Even her video announcing that she won’t seek re-election is bizarre. Just check out her smile and giddiness during the announcement.
Even funnier are her assertions that
Be assured: My decision was not in any way influenced by any concerns about my being reelected to Congress. I have every confidence that if I ran, I would again defeat the individual who I defeated last year, who recently announced he is once again running.
and even funnier
And rest assured, this decision was not impacted in any way by the recent inquiries into the activities of my former presidential campaign or my former presidential staff. It was clearly understood that compliance with all rules and regulations was an absolute necessity for my presidential campaign.
And as to this comment,
I fully anticipate the mainstream liberal media to put a detrimental spin on my decision not to seek a fifth term. Since I was first elected to Congress many years ago, they always seem to attempt to find a dishonest way to disparage me.
No, Michele, you did that all on your own. All of our disparaging remarks about you came directly from things you said or did that showed you to be the complete moron that you are.
Although I wasn’t able to put together my own tribute this morning, there are lots of them out there… So, if you can take it, here’s one of them.
We did get down to some serious business on the show today. Sue Wilson, executive director of the Media Action Center wrote an op-ed – “Tell the FCC: Talk Radio is not Bonafide News” which details her fight to challenge a Wisconsin radio station’s license for disregarding the one remaining equal time requirement (the Zapple doctrine) for candidates. The station responded by claiming that their right-wing programming is “bonafide news” programming, which it most certainly is not.
She launched a petition to go along with it, and joined me on the show this morning to talk about it all. So, sign on to tell the FCC that what Rush Limbaugh and his ilk do is not news, and demand that the public have some control over our airwaves.
Amy Simon of She’s History made her regular Wednesday morning visit to the show today, this time to tell us all about the fabulous female Frances “Fanny” Kemble.
And Crooks and Liars John Amato joined in too…
We’ll wrap up the week tomorrow… radio or not!
