Some birthdays are more important than others.
Today is my dear soul mate and radio host Nicole Sandler’s most important birthday, at least to me. I say that because she’s smack in the middle of bravely and successfully surviving the scariest moment of her life: her battle with lung cancer. And there’s nothing like a life-changing moment like that to make me realize how precious friends are.
Nicole, I’m so glad you were born and are still kicking serious ass. You’ve been the voice for so many who can’t be heard, and you’ve provided welcoming arms allowing me to try do the same on your show. Between our wine-filled “Drunk Show” and our more serious moments, you’ve been right there laughing, crying, screaming, thinking, opining, and puzzling over the overwhelming problems this country faces and our own personal foibles.
I speak on behalf of all of your listeners, fans, and pals: Happy Birthday and many, many, many, many, many, many more. You’re a wonderful and inspiring partner, cohort, co-conspirator, advisor, and confidant.
Never stop.
