Today is a busy day! Seventy years ago today, the US dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. Fifty years ago today, LBJ signed the Voting Rights Act into law. Tonight marks the first Republican debate of the 2016 presidential election cycle, and the last edition of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart at the anchor desk. And yesterday afternoon, another dangerous person entered a movie theater with weapons, intent on harming others. Thankfully, his gun was an airsoft gun (not lethal), and he was the only casualty. But this is beyond insanity already.
This morning on the show, I spoke with Angela Wade Stubbs, Associate General Counsel at the AFL-CIO about today’s 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, and the role unions play in the civil rights movement.
“FOIA Terrorist” and New York Times front pager, Jason Leopold of Vice News joined in to talk about his latest on Hillary Clinton’s emails, on the CIA Torture Program and more…
And finally, Sen. Bernie Sanders joined me for our first conversation since he announced his candidacy!
Here are the drinking game rules for tonight’s debate… but be warned, it could be hazardous to your health!
Tomorrow morning, Julianna Forlano will join me to recap tonight’s debacle and the final night with Jon Stewart at the helm of The Daily Show. And we’ll end the week with a Flashback Friday musical blast from the past, radio or not!
