As I was preparing myself to hit the air this morning and hold myself together in the wake of losing my loving dog Sasha yesterday, I was hit with more bad news… Clear Channel is killing yet another of the remaining handful of progressive talk stations. This time, it’s Denver’s AM760 that’s headed for slaughter.

Back in October, I guest hosted the Gloria Neal Show – their local morning program. Glo informed her listeners of her show’s demise and the planned format change this morning via Facebook:

If you know me, you know my default is one of positivity. In other words, I make it “Glo.” I take pride in that. So, it is with great sadness that I post this update. As many of you know I have splitting my time between hosting the Gloria Neal Show on AM760 Radio from 7am -10am and being a part of the 6pm News Team on CBS4, Mon-Fri.

As of this morning, The Gloria Neal on AM760 is no more. Clear Channel is completely changing the format. The official announcement has not been made as to what the format will be, but none of current hosts will be on the new station. However, you will still be able to find me on CBS4 in the evenings during the 6pm newscast (and sometimes during the 5pm newscast).

There are no regrets, no hard feelings and no animosity. Every listener has enriched my life-whether you agreed or disagreed with me; whether I introduced you to “Mr. Click” or gave you your first “Honey Hush” it was all worth it. Thank you for welcoming me into your lives.

Please do not be discouraged. I am fine. I want you to be fine. Don’t give up and remember what I always said, “…get involved, stay involved and each one, reach one.” And last …but certainly not least, please PAY ATTENTION.

Until we meet again, I’ll always be…Your Mornin’ Glo.

Here we go again…
Then I found this lovely piece of drivel on the radio industry site All Access:

FEC Chair Warns Some At Agency Want To Regulate Conservative Media

Could conservative talk radio and other media face regulation by the FEDERAL ELECTION COMMISSION as campaign contributions?  The current Chairman of the FEC, LEE E. GOODMAN, told the WASHINGTON EXAMINER that he is fighting against government “impulses” to “second guess and look into the editorial decisions of conservative publishers” by lifting the media’s exemption from election laws.

He cited instances when the FEC considered regulating conservative media, including SEAN HANNITY’s PREMIERE NETWORKS show, a move that ended with a split vote.  “There are some in this building that think we can actually regulate” conservative media, warned GOODMAN, adding, “Truth be told, I want conservative media to have the same exemption as all other media.”

“The right has begun to break the left’s media monopoly, particularly through new media outlets like the internet, and I sense that some on the left are starting to rethink the breadth of the media exemption and internet communications,” GOODMAN, a Republican appointed to the Commission by President OBAMA, said.

Seriously?!? The Chairman of the FEC really said “The right has begun to break the left’s media monopoly…”  The left has a media monopoly? Please tell me where it is so I can send a resume. Seriously.

The awesome investigative journalist Greg Palast underscored the importance of supporting independent, truth-telling progressive media (like my show) on a recent appearance. I apprecated what he said so much that I took his advice and turned it into a promo:

Greg Palast:

It’s very important. People have to understand we have to support our media outlets where we get the real stuff, real information. You’re not gonna get it, frankly,  on MSDNC. You’re not gonna get it in the Fox hole. You’re not going to get any of those things except from reality radio. When you say “radio or not,” it’s usually NOT. Bless you. And I don’t feel people get it. And I just want you to record this and play it over and over. Listen! If you’re listening to this show, your  brain is getting fed, because you’ve been starved. You listen to the chitchat and the nonsense, even on the so-called liberal stuff, or National Petroleum Radio, which is liberal but subtly bending towards selling you on the righteousness of corporate power. This is such a refreshing place, the Nicole Sandler Show. I just have to tell people – this is an important issue. Protect your media!

If you can, please support our efforts here, either with an ongoing or one-time donation, by shopping on Amazon using this link, or by spreading the word to others who might enjoy the show.

This morning, I called on Tim Karr of FreePress.net and SaveTheInternet.com to explain what that All Access story above was all about (all smoke, no fire), and to give us the latest on the fight for Net Neutrality. He broke some news on the show about a new site set up for the purpose of organizing us all in the fight to keep the internet fair and open… Follow the links above to see what you can do to help!

Zoe Carpenter checked in from The Nation where she’s been writing about the White House report on Climate Change and the GOP denial of the scientific facts, the need to keep fighting the Keystone XL pipeline and how the tax cuts and subsidies we keep giving the fossil fuel industry are killing the planet.

And Amy Simon of She’s History checked in to talk about the #BringBackOurGirls campaign to call attention to the kidnapped Nigerian school girls, the outrage at the Sultan of Brunei for instituting Sharia Law, and Michelle Bachmann’s reasons for voting against a Women’s History Museum on the National Mall in DC.
