Plus a farewell to another friend. Getting old sucks, but it beats the alternative, I guess. My friend Julie Gordon died yesterday after a long battle with breast cancer. Variety posted a beautiful obituary… “Julie Gordon, Founder of the ‘Velvet Rope’ and A&R Exec, Dies at 65″
I mentioned that it was because of the “Velvet Rope” that I got a coveted interview with Alanis just a week or so before her debut album, Jagged Little Pill, hit #1. Howie and I discussed it, as he was president of Reprise Records. Jagged… was released by Maverick Records, an imprint of Reprise… Here’s the link to that interview.
