Instead of coming together to pass some kind of relief for the millions suffering from the effects of the pandemic, the Republican Senate leadership is forcing a rushed Supreme Court confirmation hearing. Today is Day One, when all 22 members of the Senate Judiciary Committee give their opening remarks. So does nominee Amy Coney Barrett. It’s a depressing day in America.
