super tuesday2

It’s the biggest day in the 2016 presidential sweepstakes so far, and it’s a real shit show. Trump could come veryclose to wrapping up the GOP nomination today, and the media will likely again declare Clinton the winner. But make no mistake, it’s still very early.

Let’s face it, the media determined very early on that it wanted Trump v Clinton in the general, and it looks as if their hard work toward that end may actually become a reality. Thankfully, I’m not the only one who realizes that the media is suffering from premature e-nomination.

David Dayen is one of the most prolific journalists working today. He’s a contributing writer to Salon.com and The Intercept, and a weekly columnist at The Fiscal Times, and also writes for The New Republic, The American Prospect, Vice, Naked Capitalism and more. Somehere in there, he had time to write his first book, Chain of Title: How Three Ordinary Americans Uncovered Wall Street’s Great Foreclosure Fraud, comes out in May 2016 (now available for pre-order – just follow the link).

Of today’s Super Tuesday primary contests, Dayen wrote at Salon, “No, Bernie Sanders’ moment isn’t over: Why his gargantuan impact can’t be erased by a Super Tuesday drubbing.” We spoke about both the book and the un-democratic practices of today’s Democratic party on this morning’s show.

The prolific Dayen published a few other articles in the past week I would have loved to talk about including “Antonin Scalia: The Billion-Dollar Supreme Court Justice” at The Intercept, “If Voters Keep Digging, They’ll Find Trump Buried Some Really Bad Deals” and “Defrauded Students Demand Loan Forgiveness on ‘Snake Oil Educations’” at The Fiscal Times, and “Why Elizabeth Warren Is on the Warpath This Week” at The New Republic, but we just didn’t have the time.

But you should read them, and sign up for his email newsletter here, and find his article archive at Tumblr.

In hour two, it was Laffy time! GottaLaff is my guest every Tuesday morning in the second hour. Despite a very popular misconception, we are not the same person. I can multi-task, but I couldn’t talk to myself for an hour each week. Oh.. wait…

Go out and vote! We’ll be back tomorrow, radio or not!
