Today is the Army Corps of Engineers’ deadline for the Standing Rock #NoDAPL protesters to vacate their camps. Susana Sandoval checked in with us at the top of the show to talk about what’s happening there. As of showtime, the evictions hadn’t yet begun. Susana Sandoval is a human rights activist known for immigration reform work, is a migrant cultural worker and multidisciplinary artist. Purepecha Mexican descent from Chicago, she ran in the 2016 election cycle in Illinois for the U.S. Senate seat. A staunch supporter of women’s leadership efforts, she was one of 3 Latinas running nationally. She has been residing at Standing Rock North Dakota in solidarity for almost 3 months.
