The dominoes started falling Wednesday afternoon
Bannon was removed from the National Security Council – reports say that he threatened to quit his White House post in protest of the move, but his Breitbart benefactor, Rebekah Mercer reportedly demanded he stayed put, as she wants her money’s worth…
In retaliation for the demotion, Breitbart (the website) has already published four negative Jared Kushner stories (curious, as one Bannon ally told Jonathan Swan of Axios that Kushner will receive “some bad press” in the near future.
Meanwhile, in the wake of the latest chemical attack in Syria and Twitler’s tough talk in the rose garden yesterday, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis is set to brief D’ump on military options later today in Florida.
If you were waiting for Devin Nunes to be exiled from the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election, your wait is over. Nunes announced today he’d step aside from the investigation, whining that “several left-wing activist groups have filed accusations against me with the Office of Congressional Ethics”. It seems as if his ouster was not his choice, as we now know that Nunes was not only reported to the House Ethics Committee, but he is under investigation for leaking classified information. Buh bye now…
And finally, after the Senate Democrats (minus Joe Manchin, Heidi Heitcamp, Joe Donnelly and Michael Bennet) successfully filibustered Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch, the Republicans led by Mitch McTurtle, launched the nuclear option to kill the filibuster, clearing the way for Gorsuch to become the newest associate Justice of the Supreme Court on Friday… then Congress will go on vacation for a couple of weeks before coming back to try to take our health insurance away again…
And then Howie Klein joined us to talk about a couple of stories that’ll go live at Down With Tyranny later today — one about the internet privacy bill that D’ump just signed into law (and we’ll discuss how to protect ourselves tomorrow); the other about how Rebekkah Mercer wants Stephen Bannon to stay in his White House job as she paid big bucks to get him there.
