I’m here, armed with lots of news that transpired while I was out so we can cover some of it and talk about it. We’ll also look at Ukraine, home to the most nuclear power plants in Europe. Russia is still occupying the largest one of them all, the plant at Zaporizhzhia, which experts warn could be another Chernobyl or Fukushima in the making. While Fukushima was raging some nine years ago, I spoke with Dr. Helen Caldicott, one of the pioneering doctors who warned about the dangers of nuclear power, especially as a pediatrician. In 1978, she resurrected Physicians for Social Responsibility, calling the world’s attention to what she referred to as the “insanity” of the nuclear arms race and the growing reliance on nuclear power.
