I’ve been very busy over the long Christmas weekend.  No, not being gluttonous or shopping or doing any of the usual Christmas things.

I was so moved by the people I spoke with last week on The Randi Rhodes Show who’ve exhausted all of their unemployment benefits and are now, in many cases literally, out in the cold.

So, I took my very basic website building skills and launched the Help the 99ers website with the Help Board.

I wanted to make a simple, practical place where those who are fortunate enough to be in a position to help those who are hurting could connect without an intermediary.

The Help Board has a general discussion area where everyone is free to post.  It also contains a State directory.

99ers – those who are no longer eligible for unemployment benefits – are encouraged to post in the state section in which they live their stories.

People who can hire workers, donate money or goods, “adopt” families, etc., could go to the Help Board, and give whatever they can directly to the people who need it.

It’s a very simple concept, and could really work… as long as people know about it.  I’m filling in for Randi Rhodes again all next week, and will get the ball rolling. But we need your help too.

So please visit the site and spread the word. Give a penny, take a penny.  You get the idea.  Let’s get going…
