My week ends on Thursdays, and I try to end it on a fun note. Today is no different, as John Fugelsang will join us — as long as he doesn’t get caught in traffic and have his cell phone battery die again.  But it has to get tougher and tougher for political comedians to be funny right now, as the word seems to be on a calamity course.

I’m sure he’ll live up to the challenge.

In the first hour tonight, I’ll speak with one of my favorite guests.  Tim Wise is one of the most prominent anti-racist authors and activists in the country.  He’s written five very thoughful books. Tonight, we’ll talk about his newest one, Color-Blind: The Rise of Post-Racial Politics and the Retreat from Racial Equality, and see where the conversation takes us.

President Obama gave another of his very moving speeches today, this time on the need for immigration reform.  I have to wonder why, though, he didn’t say, “So, here’s what we’re going to do…”  He didn’t do that for health care, the BP disaster, financial reform, or anything else I can remember.  Yes, I’m a bit disappointed.

He did, however, end the speech with the wonderful story of Emma Lazarus and the Statue of Liberty.  Nice, but I want action!  We’ll hear some of that, if time permits…

Today is also Day 73 of the BP disaster.  Today, it became the largest “spill” ever in the Gulf of Mexico. And thanks to Shannyn Moore who shared this report , we see that BP is lying to us, yet again.
