Trump outreach worked… with “alt-right” anti-Semites issuing death threats

Today MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell interviewed Former Director of Media Relations for the Bob Dole campaign, Andrew Weinstein. After he organized an anti-Trump petition, the subsequent anti-Semitic attacks and threats he received from the “alt-right” movement were utterly horrific. Please watch all the way through: And what was GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump's directive to these bottom-feeders when asked how he felt about their vile outbursts and death threats? "I don't have a message for my fans." His hateful "fans" ran with that (at about 4:10 in the video). And so the Clinton campaign is also running with their own message. Here is brand spankin' [...]

VIDEO: Bernie Sanders corrects the record on his Medicare for All plan

Yesterday I posted Bernie Sanders in his own words on health care. cc: Chelsea, a rebuttal to claims made by Ms. Clinton about Bernie Sanders' health care plan. I included two videos and some links. I don't usually jump in like this, nor do I like to exacerbate Dem vs Dem conflicts. However, I made an exception here because there are statements out there that are not accurate and need attention.Today, Senator Sanders was interviewed by MSNBC's Thomas Roberts about those very misrepresentations. Here is Sanders correcting the record in his own words:And via TPM:During an interview on CNN following the [...]

Bernie Sanders in his own words on health care. cc: Chelsea

Chelsea Clinton: Bernie will "dismantle Obamacare, dismantle the CHIP program, dismantle Medicare, and dismantle private insurance"— ryan cooper (@ryanlcooper) January 12, 2016Bernie Sanders has already debunked that, erm, misrepresentation by Chelsea Clinton, since none of those things would be necessary once we had his single-payer system in place. Chelsea made it sound as if these things would go away, not be covered. That's not accurate. But just to drive the point home, here are a couple of videos to clarify his positions. Here is Sanders on health care at the Brown & Black Democratic Presidential Forum, in his own words:  You can also go to my previous [...]

Entire VIDEO: Brown & Black Democratic Presidential Forum including Bernie Sanders on guns

I couldn't resist using the image above, because regardless of who you support, you gotta admit, it's a pretty awesome bumper sticker. Last night the Brown and Black Democratic Presidential Forum took place in Iowa. All three candidates sat down for about a half hour each and answered questions from the hosts and from audience members. This was not a debate. Nonono, the DNC has limited the Dem candidates to a minimum number of debates that are inexplicably held at times that pretty much guarantee smaller audiences. Republican debates, on the other hand, are having much better exposure on way more and better nights [...]

No “news” media, Jeb Bush did not have a “gaffe-free” European tour

Here is how the Los Angeles Times framed Jebya Bush's effort to look presidential by taking a Very Important trip overseas to prove his global cred: Jeb Bush makes it through Europe unscathed, if not more popular at home Here is the first paragraph of that "news" report: When he flies home from here Saturday, Jeb Bush can boast that his ripple-free trip to three European nations this week proved he is capable of striding without stumbling on a global stage. Here is how the L.A. Times ended their story: To the extent Bush needed a whiff of fresh air and [...]

ND oil boom by-product: Meth, heroin, guns, addicted babies at Indian reservation

Rachel Maddow did her usual thorough job of explaining how North Dakota's oil boom has affected the environment. And by affected I mean utterly destroyed. And by environment I mean wildlife, rivers, water supplies, homes, and human lives: "It was carrying Bakken crude oil..." Bakken oil has had another devastating effect on North Dakota that nobody else is talking about. Please read the entire article, but to give you a taste (and a major headache), here are a few excerpts from the Los Angeles Times explaining how a "once-isolated" Indian reservation is now dealing with a whole lot more than [...]

She Wrote A Little Song About It: Lauren Mayer!

And … she sings. Yes, this is indeed the same Lauren Mayer of The Political Carnival fame! She's graciously agreed to let us post her highly hilarious musical satirizations and observations here at Laffy's Place at Radio or Not as well, and more tickled I could not be to have the pleasure of introducing her. Lauren's description of this week's 'tribute' to 50 Shades of Grey: The Real Reason Behind the Success of "50 Shades Of Triple Crap" The runaway success of these books (and now the movie based on the first one) could be seen as a sign [...]

Throwback Thursday: Jon Stewart circa early Bush the Lesser

As much as Nicole has guided us to some Serenity Now(!) space regarding the upcoming departure of our beloved Jon Stewart from the Daily Show, here at Laffy's Place it seemed our clear task to commence an homage. Jon Stewart will be no challenge to homage, as the Radio or Not community heard on yesterday's show there are more than a decade and a half of hilarious highlights and pivotal political Moments of Clarity to savor. This is a nugget from 2004, after an election we would sooner forget. Which is actually circa Mid Shrub, apologies.
