“Please let Marco Rubio’s head explode”: La Cucaracha

Image via LaloAlcaraz.com A major advantage of having a Twitter pal like the wonderful Lalo Alcaraz (@LaloAlcaraz) is that, as often as possible, he generously allows us to share his work with you. In a recent comic strip, Lalo zeroed in on none other than Florida's GOP junior (as in infantile) Senator Marco Rubio. Lalo gives us his take on Rubio's take on President Obama's Cuba bombshell. As always, he manages to say so much so well in such a limited space. Take it away, Lalo!

Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll

Ian Dury and the Blockheads with a good description of today's show.   Sex and Drugs Those santimonious hypocrites posing as the religious righteous on their high horses can go fuck themselves, and they soon may have to do so.  Hey guys - you take away our birth control, you will never get laid again. Hey Marco Rubio, I'm talking to you with your sanctimonious Religious Freedom Protection Act of 2012. I called Rubio's office this morning on the show and asked why he hates women.  This pandering piece of horrible legislation would allow ANY business or corporation to refuse [...]

It’s Another Two-Fer Tuesday

A busy day for me, as I'm guest hosting the Randi Rhodes Show again today (through Thursday)... So, let's get right to it. On both shows, we'll address President Obama's Labor Day preview of what he'll give us on Thursday by way of a jobs plan.  And we'll look at Teamsters' chief James Hoffa's speech at yesterday's labor rally featuring the president in Detroit and how Fox blew it all out of proportion. On my show this morning, I'll talk with listener Susan Shaffer about two things she brought to my attention.  The first having to do with Sen. Marco [...]

When Politics Turns Ugly

That's what it looks like. Lauren Valle was trying to present Rand Paul with the "Republicorp Employee of the Month Award" as he was getting out of his car last night to enter the studios of Kentucky Education Television for the debate with Jack Conway.  Rand Paul's thugs tackled her and stomped on her shoulders and head.  See the video for yourself... What's even uglier are some of the comments on this right wing blog, who defend the violence! A quick shout out to KagroX, who this morning tweeted "Freedom of Speech for Juan Williams. Oh, hold on, I have [...]

The Final Stretch

We have just over a week before election day, and things are getting nastier by the minute. On today's show, I'll be joined by one of the few progressive heroes in Congress - Raul Grijalva - who is in serious danger of losing his seat. On Thursday, Grijalva's Tucson office was evacuated Thursday when a staffer opened an envelope containing a plastic bag of white powder and two pieces of paper with swastikas written on them. Nice, huh?  Yes, it's ugly out there... But we'll start the show with Jason Leopold of Truthout, who spent the weekend poring over the [...]

Return of the Aqua Buddha, The Outlaws and More Monday Madness

Just when you though politics couldn't get any weirder, the Aqua Buddha returns, in all his chubby, wet glory. Actually, we have Jack Conway to thank for bringing back this very strange aspect of the very strange Rand Paul's past.  First, here's Conway's latest ad: Last night, the topic led off the debate between the two guys hoping to represent Kentucky in the US Senate... it was fireworks from the first word: And poor, insulted "Dr." Paul wouldn't shake Attorney General Jack Conway's hand at the end of it... Yikes. Although my favorite line of the evening came from Conway, [...]

Awesomeness and Laffs

How do you do a radio show when you're feeling flu-ish? Invite the Awesome Bob Cesca and Gotta Laff to be your guests!  OK, Laffy was already scheduled (she's on with me every Tuesday morning), but Bob Cesca is certainly coming to the rescue. For readers not in the know, Bob Cesca's Awesome Blog! Go! is here, and you also read him on Huffington Post.  He's no stranger to radio either; he and Elvis Dingeldein host a weekly podcast too.  We'll talk about whatever comes up, though I'm sure we'll hit on the fact that Richard Shelby is blocking the [...]

Talking ‘Bout A Revolution

We will be doing just that on today's show.  Political cartoonist, columnist and war correspondent Ted Rall is my first guest this morning.  His new book, The Anti-American Manifesto explicitly calls for a violent revolution. Seriously! Rall also recently returned from a trip to Afghanistan.  We'll delve into that mess, as well as the mess here at home that prompted his writing of the Manifesto.  It should be a fascinating conversation. My friend David Swanson reviewed Rall's book recently and, I must admit, I agree more with Swanson than Rall on this one, but it's definitely worth the discussion! In [...]

Filling in for Thom Hartmann

I think I'm the happiest unemployed radio personality around.  I regularly get to guest host The Randi Rhodes Show.  And today I got to fill  in for Thom Hartmann! Seriously, next to having my own show again, nothing could be better. Thom is in the middle of a move to Washington DC, but late last night they realized that the new studio wouldn't be ready for today's show. So, I awoke this morning to an email asking if I was available.  Duh! So, after my show (and after pulling out an old interview with Ralph Nader to run during the [...]
