Download here or click below to play, (or watch the video at the bottom of the page!) We have a busy Floriduh-based show for you today! We'll begin with candidate for Governor, Nikki Fried. She's currently Agriculture Commissioner in FL, the only Democrat in the executive branch of Florida's government. It'll be our first time talking, so I'll ask why we should elect her to replace Ron DeathSentence. Then at the bottom of the hour, we're joined by one of the best journalists in South Florida. I first met Jim DeFede when I interviewed to be producer of his new [...]
Download here or click below to play, (or watch the video at the bottom of the page!) Florida's 2021 legislative session ended this weekend, and it's worse than you could have imagined. I'll speak with the best political reporter in the state, Jim DeFede, about the latest right wing assault on our state. There are a few other stories we'll hit on today too, like Trump's gaslighting of America, inconceivably, continuing. And May 3 is a special day. I'll explain that too. I promised I'd link to Jim DeFede's reporting on Centner Academy. Here you go: I did [...]
Today's show features two of America's great reporters who are both covering the 2018 midterms. Jim DeFede is an investigative reporter for CBS4 in Miami, and Greg Palast is an independent journalist. Find his great work at GregPalast.com. We'll get the latest from Florida and Georgia, who both have high-stakes recounts going on.
I returned to the air today after being out most of last week with a nasty case of bronchitis and a sinus infection too. And boy did I pick a hell of a week to get sick! Today, I did my best to recap the events of the past week, and focus in on two big stories. My old colleague Jim DeFede, now an investigative reporter at Miami's CBS4 and host of Facing South Florida with Jim DeFede tore down the curtain around Congressman and would-be senator Patrick Murphy with a mind-blowing story about the fake resume Murphy has been touting, [...]
As much as we'd like to Flashback to before Tuesday, we spent the first hour dissecting what happened. CBS4/Miami's Jim DeFede helped unpack what happened in Florida, and the Campaign for America's Future's Dave Johnson told us about what went wrong nationally and gave a preview of next week's action against the TPP. In hour two, we went back to 2000 for my interviews with musicians Colin Hay of Men at Work and Jill Sobule.
These are photos taken of some of the images projected on The Wall Saturday night when I saw Roger Waters perform the Pink Floyd concert. In addition to being musically brilliant and visually stunning, the message was perfect for the times in which we live. Kind of interesting, as The Wall was released in 1979... but Roger Waters made it just as relevant today. As the song "Bring the Boys Back Home" was playing, those images flashed on The Wall, bringing these words to the masses: "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies [...]
Randi's headed to NY to guest on Joy Behar's TV show tonight, so I'll be filling in for her today. And that's a good thing, as there's so much to talk about today... I ran out of time this morning on my show! We'll start the show with some examples of the opposite world in which the right lives. In their world, up is down and wrong is right. I'll give you a list of some examples, and then ask for your best instances of the right wing hypocrisy... My guests will include Howie Klein, who blogs at DownWithTyranny.com and [...]
I'm a bad host... a very bad host. I was just too tired last night to write this blog entry, letting you know who was on the show and giving you links to find out more about who they are and what we talked about. So now, I get to pull double duty again! So, we'll make this quick (as I still have to post tonight's show and blog!) We started the show last night as we do most Wednesdays, with Christy Harvey of the Center for American Progress, and a discussion of some of the stories she shares with [...]
