1-20-16 Nicole Sandler Show – The Clash Over Campaign Cash

It's a busy day on the show, as Nicole Sandler hosts The Clash over Campaign Cash, a debate between Move to Amend's David Cobb and Shaun McCutcheon, who won his suit claiming aggregate limits on the amount of money an individual can contribute to a political party or the number of Federal candidates is unconstitutional at the Supreme Court. In the first hour, Nicole welcomes Tim Canova, the law professor and political activist challenging Debbie Wasserman Schultz in the primary. And Deborah Newell joins in for our Wednesday morning dip into the Oy FloriDUH files too.

4-28-15 Nicole Sandler Show – From Baltimore to the Supreme Court

It's a day of dueling stories - hope and joy at the Supreme Court as the justices hear the case that could lead to marriage equality across the land. And Baltimore burns, as protesters mourn the loss of another unarmed black man to police. GottaLaff joins in to discuss the dichotomy. And David Cobb of Move to Amend on the fight to get money out of politics...

The Shit Has Hit the Fan

And here we are.. a nation of lawyers, guns and money. The lawyers argue before the courts, who decide that money rules all. And mentally ill people with guns go on shooting rampages. Today on the show, we continued discussing the ramifications of the Supreme Court decision in McCutcheon vs FEC - with David Cobb, national spokesperson at Move to Amend  and David Gans of the Constitutional Accountability Center.  Move to Amend has been building a movement to pass a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United (and now, too, McCutcheon) which would explicitly state that corporations are not people and [...]

It’s Money that Matters

Today on the show, we talked about money.  Well, the real topics were campaign finance reform and the Oscars... but it all boils down to dollars and cents. The Supreme Court is set to hear another case involving campaign contributions.  McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission is being called Citizens United 2.0, as the GOP wants to lift the limits on the aggregate amount of money an individual can contribute directly to candidates and to their party.  I spoke about it and the progress made to undo the Citizens United damage with a constitutional amendment with Move To Amend's David Cobb. Note [...]

Busy Day Yesterday…

Sometimes there are too few hours in the day!  I'm just now getting around to posting yesterday's show (one more reason why you should subscribe to the podcast via iTunes or Stitcher..)...  Just as we were hitting the air for my show I got an email asking me to fill in for Randi Rhodes.... And Alison had a softball game last night (yes, we live in Florida - and it's the playoffs with another game tonight!) So, here I am taking a break from show prep for today's show to post yesterdays, along with links... On my show, I was [...]

In the wake of the Supreme Court's horrible ruling in January 2012 on Citizens United, and its equally heinous decision on Monday in overturning the ruling on the Montana Supreme Court that disallowed [...]

McChrystal Out. Now if we could only get out of Afghanistan…

He did it. The President actually showed some backbone and kicked McChrystal to the curb. Unfortunately, he put General David Petraeus back in to run the Afghanistan war theater; the same general who just last week said that the July 2011 date for beginning withdrawal of our troops was "nuanced." Grrr. We'll talk a bit about that on tonight's show.  And we've got a full slate of great guests joining in too. Christy Harvey of the Center for American Progress returns from a few weeks off. She'll bring some of the stories we might otherwise have missed. Although BP was [...]
