G. Love and Special Sauce at the Tortuga Music Festival
Sat April 13, 2013

We all know that music soothes the savage beast, but this weekend it showed it can help save the oceans too!

The inaugural Tortuga Music Festival rocked Ft. Lauderdale Beach this weekend and I couldn’t have been happier.  There was music for everyone – from the big country headliners to the more eclectic rootsy/Americana/reggae music fans like me.

From G. Love (who stuck around for the whole weekend and jammed with Michael Franti, Donovan Frankenreiter, the Avett Brothers and others) to Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite and Grace Potter….  it was an amazing weekend filled with sun, sand and great music – all for a great cause!

My old friend from my music radio days and scuba diving buddy Chris Stacey apparently had a dream a few years ago, and saw it realized this weekend.

Chris formed Rock the Ocean – a foundation whose mission is to increase public awareness about the issues impacting the world’s oceans and to support scientific research, education and ocean conservation initiatives through benefit concerts, brand partnerships, and entertainment industry events.

I couldn’t be prouder of my friend and what he’s doing!  Thanks Chris!
