Over the past few months, I’ve gotten lots of emails from listeners asking about Randi. Until this morning, you knew as much as I did. This morning, the news broke that Randi is returning to the airwaves on May 11, courtesy of Premiere Radio Networks.

Just in case you were wondering, Premiere is owned by Clear Channel, and is also home to Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck! I give them credit for realizing that “progressive talk” has an audience too, and applaud them for taking this step out of the dark side of political talk radio.

Here’s the official announcement, courtesy of the industry trade site All Access:

Randi Rhodes Returns Via Premiere

PREMIERE RADIO NETWORKS has formally announced the syndication of RANDI RHODES.
The news first leaked through a note on CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KKGN-A (GREEN 960)/SAN FRANCISCO’s website, and the syndicator has now issued a press release setting the debut for MAY 11th and the time slot as 3-6p ET weekdays. Among the affiliates taking the show will be KKGN and sister Talk KTLK-A/LOS ANGELES and KPOJ-A/PORTLAND.
“Right now, AMERICA needs a voice that reflects its hopes and concerns. It will be my privilege and pleasure to provide vital information to the public about everything that is possible in the 21st century, and also have a few laughs along the way,” said RHODES. “PREMIERE is an incredible family of radio pros, and is truly the most talented and experienced radio syndicator in the nation. I?m exited about this decision and PREMIERE’s enthusiasm for this partnership. It?s truly a dream come true.”
PREMIERE Radio EVP/Affiliate Marketing JULIE TALBOTT said, “RANDI has carved a niche in Talk radio with her straight-forward approach, intelligence, wit and fact-driven content -? qualities that attract audiences. We can?t wait to deliver THE RANDI RHODES SHOW to stations nationwide.” RHODES has been out of syndication since leaving NOVA M RADIO earlier this year; she was previously at AIR AMERICA RADIO.
Unfortunately, we here in South Florida will have to listen to the show online, via streaming from one of the 25 or so stations that will be carrying the program… unless some smart broadcaster here decides to pick up the format, or realize that a show like this would do well on any talk radio station!
