New Week, New Year

I rarely take a week off from doing this show and can’t remember the last time I ever took two weeks off, other than when I was out after being diagnosed with lung cancer eight years ago. In fact, nine years ago this week, David and I got married. It was New Years’ Eve 2015, and I even did a show that day!

But as you know, I’ve been battling health demons for the past few months and decided that I’d give my mind and body a good rest over the holidays by taking off these two weeks. The good news is that it’s helping! I’m feeling much better. The flu is gone and I’m dealing with the anxiety that had me paralyzed. I’m looking forward to getting back to work– next week!

There will continue to be “best of” shows running on Progressive Voices while I’m out. They’re all linked here so you can listen whenever you want.

Given the state of today’s Republican Party (who sadly will still control the House in this Congress) and the incoming administration, we know we’re in for a rough year. Our best defense is knowledge and preparation. So today we’ll go back to June 4 of 2024 for a conversation with Annalee Newitz who explains in their new book, STORIES ARE WEAPONS: PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE AND THE AMERICAN MIND, this really is war.

They open the preface to the book writing, “It’s hard to write about a war while it’s raging.
