I know we’re still five weeks away from the mid-term elections, but since the corporate media won’t stop speculating about (or even anointing) potential presidential candidates, I thought I might as well weigh in too…
Elizabeth Warren would be one of my top choices, but she’s already vehemently said no on numerous occasions, so I’ll leave her out of it. My next two choices are Senator Bernie Sanders and Congressman Alan Grayson. Yesterday, Eric Holder made it official. He’s leaving his post at US Attorney General as soon as President Obama names a successor and that person is confirmed. I spent the first few minutes of the show reviewing some of the right-wing criticisms and some of the Democrats’ accolades and noted that neither side got it right. Holder was a lousy AG because he didn’t prosecute a single bankster responsible for crashing our economy and hurting many millions of Americans, nor did he go after the war criminals for committing torture, lying us into war and their other numerous war crimes.
And when I asked Congressman Grayson about Holder, he echoed my sentiments exactly. Sadly, despite his various law degrees and obvious qualifications, no one of yet has approached him about replacing Holder…
Every Friday morning we segue into the weekend with a musical blast from the past. Today, we journeyed back to 1995 to LA’s now-defunct fm 101.9 for one of my conversations with Lyle Lovett and a performance that included a few members of his large band.
