Bernie meme

Senator Bernie Sanders is in Ft. Lauderdale this morning, speaking at the Urban League’s national conference as part of this morning’s Presidential Plenary.

I’ve been trying to get Bernie back on the show since he announced his candidacy, to no avail. It’s a mixed blessing — he’s gained so much popularity and momentum that he’s in demand, and that’s a great thing. But sadly, our access to him is limited.

I’m not complaining. We’ve had Bernie to ourselves for a long time. Now we’re sharing him with everyone else.

So, this morning while I attempt to meet him in person for the first time, I thought we’d do a true Flashback Friday show. I dug through my archives and pulled out a few interviews with Bernie. The first one was from November of 2010. The last one was in September of last year, when I directly asked him to run and to run as a Democrat.

And our musical treat today is a repeat of our first Flashback Friday musical blast from the past. We go back to May of 1996 (I found the date!!) for my first interview with the legendary Ray Davies of The Kinks. (I’ll post the podcast when I get home this afternoon.)

I’ll be back live Monday morning to tell you all about my morning with Bernie… radio or not!
