Eve of Destruction

All hell is breaking loose in the Middle East once again.  To trace the hostilities back to the beginning, we'd have to go back thousands of years.  There is no right (as in correct) side here.  As for this current round of fighting, I don't know where it started.  But Ha'aretz, the biggest and oldest newspaper in Israel, is reporting that Israeli peace activist Gershon Baskin, founder of the Israel/Palestine Center for Research and Information, was working on a permanent truce agreement between Israel and Hamas.  He was working directly with Hamas leader Ahmed Jabari, to whom he had delivered [...]

It’s Election Day, Do You Know Where Your Vote Is?

I actually voted yesterday, by in person absentee ballot.  I know, that makes no sense, but remember - I live in FloriDUH!  The current criminal governor, Rick Scott, decided to cut the early voting period in half.  While we witnessed record lines, the Democratic Party of Florida filed a suit to extend early voting hours, a number of Supervisors of Elections of various counties took it upon themselves to offer this alternative: show up at their offices, have an absentee ballot printed on the spot, where you fill it in and turn it in.  Sounds simple, right? Unfortunately, Miami-Dade [...]

The Day Before Election Day

I took that picture of a little boy yesterday at the Obama rally in Hollywood FL.  My 13 year old daughter only accompanied me because it was my birthday, and I hope that someday she'll look back on it and remember that she saw our first African American President in person. I also hope that, in his second term, President Obama will become a truly great leader. Today is election day and, as soon as this post is up, I'll be taking my absentee ballot in to the Broward County Supervisor of Elections office in person, and will wait until they verify [...]

My Birthday Wish

That's me... 53 years ago Sunday. My birthday often falls on election day. Ronald Reagan was elected on my 21st birthday. My first time in the voting booth, and I proudly voted for the candidate that lost. Barack Obama made history on my 49th birthday.  And this year, my big day comes two days before election day. People who regularly listen to my show and read this blog know that I always call things the way I see them.  Because of that, I've been attacked with pseudo-insults ever since by so-called liberals.  I've been called "emo-prog" and "firebagger" (whatever [...]

The Scariest Halloween Ever

It's Halloween, so I thought I'd assemble some really scary things for you to think about today (and leading up to election day on Tuesday). 1. In the wake of Sandy, let's remember Mitt Romney's big laugh line during his RNC speech: "President Obama promised to begin to slow the rise of the oceans...and to heal the planet...." He went on to say that it's immoral for the United States to take out loans to help fellow Americans. Really? I'd say it's immoral not to do anything and everything possible to help those in need, especially after a disaster [...]

The Corporate States of America with a Privatized FEMA

In one of the GOP's many primary debates, CNN's John King asked Mitt Romney that, in light of the disastrous recent weather events in Joplin, MO,  New Orleans and other cities, what should be done with FEMA?  Romney's answer was Every time you have an occasion to take something from the federal government and send it back to the states, that’s the right direction. And if you can go even further and send it back to the private sector, that’s even better. [...] We cannot — we cannot afford to do those things without jeopardizing the future for our kids. It [...]
