4-14-22 Nicole Sandler Show – Thursdays with Howie Klein; CPC We’ve Got a Problem

Download here or click below to play, (or watch the video at the bottom of the page!) It's Thursday, so Howie Klein is here. Today, I know exactly what we'll be talking about. There are a few reports out today about the Congressional Progressive Caucus endorsing an actual New Dem (Shontel Brown) over a true progressive (Nina Turner). An article about it from The Lever (David Sirota's new outlet) blamed Pramila Jayapal; Howie says she's not the one to blame... I say there's plenty of blame to go around! We'll start there... But first, there's other news to tell you [...]

5-3-17 Nicole Sandler Show- The People’s Budget with Dave Johnson

The Congressional Progressive Caucus released their "People's Budget" today. I invited Dave Johnson on to the show to discuss the difference between that one (the most common sense of any budget you'll see), and the "plan" put out by the Trump administration. As usual, there was lots of other news, from Comey's testimony at the Senate Judiciary Committee to D'ump meeting with Palestinian Authority President Abbas and going off script to say that the Israelis and Palestinians are working "beautifully together". Media Fail

If there's one subject I talk about a lot on this show it's the epic failure of media in America. Today, I spoke with journalist David Dayen who wrote a piece for Al Jazeera America  about the "Better Off Budget" - the budget released by the Congressional Progressive Caucus on Wednesday of last week. Unless you saw Dayen's piece or read about in on another blog somewhere, you don't know that it was offered, because the mainstream, corporate media completely ignored it... as they do every year! Dave Johnson asked "Why the Blackout on the Progressive 'Better off Budget'?" [...]

Singing a Sad American Tune

Paul Simon's American Tune aptly sums up my feelings this morning... And I don't know a soul who's not been battered I don't have a friend who feels at ease I don't know a dream that's not been shattered or driven to its knees But it's all right, it's all right We've lived so well so long Still, when I think of the road we're traveling on I wonder what went wrong I can't help it, I wonder what went wrong We've been seriously misused.  We elected a president who we thought would at least stand up for [...]

Monday, Monday (part deux)

Usually when I guest host the Randi Rhodes Show, I do it from my own home studio.  Today, there was a staffing issue, so they asked if I'd drive up to her studio in West Palm Beach.  Fifty-two miles (and 1/4 tank of gas) later, I was there.  And even after already doing two hours of my own show, there was still plenty to talk about, without repeating anything... Congressman Raul Grijalva, co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus was my first guest.  He joined me to talk about The People's Budget, which was introduced by the CPC, and is exactly [...]
