8-3-16 Nicole Sandler Show – Another Test Day

I was out today, having an EBUS (Endobronchial Ultrasound), which was every bit as uncomfortable as you'd image looking at the graphic above. So instead of a live show, I put together an abbreviated Best Of today... First up, some words of wisdom from the Rev. Dr. William Barber. After his rousing speech at the DNC, we pulled out the interview Nicole did with Dr. Barber at Netroots Nation in Detroit in 2014. And with the Olympics opening ceremonies happening Friday night, we thought this was a good day to listen back to Nicole's conversation with Jules Boykoff, author [...]

8-14-15 Nicole Sandler Show – Getting to Know You

With an assist from the Rachel Maddow Show, Nicole introduces us to a younger Bernie Sanders. Julianna Forlano brings us Absurdity Today. It's a Flashback Friday doubleheader too - Rev. Dr. William Barber speaks with Nicole from last summer, and for our musical blast from the past, it's Richard Thompson from 1996

“Dear Gov. Cuomo, please stop blaming teachers for your failure to support our public school” #MoralMondays

The Rev. William Barber II urges education equality at the NYS Capitol. #MoralMondays #FaithFairNY pic.twitter.com/wAfVD5jN6U — CSEA Local 1000 (@CSEALocal1000) January 12, 2015 A lot of us are loyal liberals, passionate Progressives, devoted Democrats. However, that doesn't mean we blindly support Democrats who don't act like Democrats, at least not if we want this country to evolve and prosper. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is one of those Dems who has given real Progressives pause. And by pause I mean hives. For example, Cuomo attacked teacher pensions in his second inauguration speech. And here's another link you may find interesting. Now back to Moral Monday [...]

After the past two weeks in Ferguson, we could really use an event to focus on morality, equality, rights and bringing people together. North Carolina has just what the doctor ordered, as today kicks off the Moral Week of Action. If you can't make it to Raleigh, as sadly I can't, you can watch the live stream each afternoon by clicking here. And if you're still wondering what the snake line is, just listen to the man who founded the Moral Monday movement in North Carolina, Rev. Dr. William Barber from the speech he delivered at Netroots Nation last month in [...]

Happy Moral Populists

A group of young Iranians showed their "Happy" side by dancing in a video to Pharrell Williams catchy smash hit song.   Unfortunately, I guess being happy is illegal in Iran. Susie Madrak of Crooks & Liars joined me this morning to talk about this truly sad story. Three men and three women danced unveiled to Pharrell Williams' smash hit in a video that was widely shared on social media, garnering over 30,000 views before it was taken down. Copies have been quickly re-uploaded as news of the arrest has broken, sparking the hashtag #FreeHappyIranians. Many Iranians praised their joyful video, [...]

Still Marching!

Fifty years later, we're still marching. Fifty years (and six months) ago, 200,00-300,ooo people turned out for the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. This past Saturday 80,00-100,0o0 showed up in Raleigh North Carolina for the Moral March , something that has actually been happening in Raleigh every February since 2007 as part of the HKonJ -Historic Thousands on Jones Street (where the legislature meets). Writing about the march for RH Reality Check, PFAW's Peter Montgomery explains Last year’s merciless legislative assault on voting rights, public education, health care, and poor families gave progressive organizing a renewed urgency. Multimillionaire [...]

Spreading Morality

Mountain Moral Monday's first outing drew an estimated 10,000 people With the beginning of the school year a mere two weeks away here in South Florida, I have to run right after the show today to take my kid to a doctor's appointment...
