Winning: No War, No Summers!

Go figure. We criticized from the left, and we won.  Of course, those who ascribe to "My President, wrong or right" have been out in force, damning all who dare to question their leader.  I guess I view democracy differently.  I believe it means that we all have a voice in our government, which is ostensibly of, by and for the people, and that it's not only our right, but our responsibility to hold our elected officials accountable. So, we spoke out against the administration's admonitions that we must attack Syria because Syria attacked its own people.  And we spoke [...]

Spreading Morality

Mountain Moral Monday's first outing drew an estimated 10,000 people With the beginning of the school year a mere two weeks away here in South Florida, I have to run right after the show today to take my kid to a doctor's appointment... A quick rundown of the broken things we talked about today: -The Environment  A "natural gas" drilling well in the Gulf of Mexico exploded Tuesday and is still spewing methane, just 50 miles from the Louisiana border, while there are two tar sands leaks poisoning Alberta, Canada.  And a train derailed at the Port of Tampa early this morning, spewing flammable ethanol. -The Fourth Amendment  The House yesterday voted down the Amash-Conyers amendment that would have effectively defunded the NSA's domestic spying [...]

Summers’ End and More Wishful Thinking

How appropriate is it that Larry Summers' departure is announced on the first day of fall? What other beautiful changes can we hope for as the Obama administration attempts to get voters excited before November 2?  How about making a list? Get Rahm the hell out of there too! The PCCC started a campaign to get Chicago voters to pledge never to vote for him... but I say "shhh."  Let him think they'll vote for him, and then don't! In the wake of yesterday's blockade in the Senate of opening debate on DADT (by way of the Defense Appropriations bill), [...]
