Last night I took a screen grab of a tweet by GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump's campaign spokesperson Katrina Pierson. I did that just in case she felt compelled to scrub it. I don't remember a time when I've gotten such a huge reaction on Twitter. I mean, when you get retweets from Patton Oswalt and Josh Malina, you know you're onto something. Trump claims to be “the least racist person that you have ever met," yet ironically, he consistently makes comments and pushes policies that contradict that statement. He also makes a point of hiring people who have their own racist [...]
Today MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell interviewed Former Director of Media Relations for the Bob Dole campaign, Andrew Weinstein. After he organized an anti-Trump petition, the subsequent anti-Semitic attacks and threats he received from the “alt-right” movement were utterly horrific. Please watch all the way through: And what was GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump's directive to these bottom-feeders when asked how he felt about their vile outbursts and death threats? "I don't have a message for my fans." His hateful "fans" ran with that (at about 4:10 in the video). And so the Clinton campaign is also running with their own message. Here is brand spankin' [...]
I moved back to my home studio today. We still have some tweaking to do, but so far, so good. Rick Neuhoff and his wife Diana Hatsis were the Bernie Sanders delegates from my congressional district. Rick joined me for a final recap of the convention and to talk about how to move forward in the post-Bernie race. In the second hour, Ari Berman of The Nation joined me to talk about the court striking down NC's voter ID laws, Rev William Barber at the DNC, and more.
Photo via Slate This post is not as thorough as I'd like, because my attention is divided today, but jotting down a few thoughts will help get these feelings out of my system. Please bear with me. Trump's done it. He's compelled me to write about him in a way I've resisted for a very long time: Comparing him to Hitler. I consciously resist references to Hitler in general because so many people throw those around way too often, way too casually, and way too inappropriately. But after watching Trump's speech on the final night of the fiasco that passed [...]
