A Progressive Call to Action!

Listen to this episode: {play}http://traffic.libsyn.com/radioornot/20120808_Nicole_Sandler_Show_-_Get_Money_Out.mp3 {/play} Podcast: Play in new window   If we keep repeating what happened last night in Washington and Michigan, we're going to wind up with a Congress full of assholes like Allen West and Mitt Romney in the White House.  Last night, the voters in Washington's 1st Congressional district really blew it.  Instead of nominating a true progressive in Darcy Burner, they wound up with a corpora-Dem in Suzan DelBene, who'll likely not make it as far as election day in November due to her shoddy (illegal?) financial disclosure filings.  According to Howie Klein over [...]

How to Fix the Mess We’re In

Listen to this episode: {play}http://traffic.libsyn.com/radioornot/20120807_Nicole_Sandler_Show_.mp3 {/play} Podcast: Play in new window   Today is election day in Washington state and Michigan.  The woman pictured above is Darcy Burner, she's running from Washington's 1st district, and we need her in Congress. Today is the last day to get your ballots in. If you're in Michigan, I can recommend votes for Lance Enderle in the 8th District and Trevor Thomas in the 3rd. If we want to end these senseless wars once and for all and bring all that money home, we need to elect more progressives to Congress. If we want [...]

Right Wingers Infiltrate Netroots Nation and Make Shit Up

Listen to this episode: {play}http://traffic.libsyn.com/radioornot/20120612_Nicole_Sandler_Show_-_Darcy.mp3 {/play} Play in new window   Darcy Burner (candidate for Congress from WA-01) gave me my first goose bump moment at Netroots Nation last week.  It was during the Keynote plenary "The War on (and for) Women".   About 10 minutes into her address, after speaking about the cultural shift that now has her Republican dad speaking openly about her uncle Charlie who  "probably is gay", Darcy explained that the stories in people heads have changed. It's due to a change in the way we look at things, and become more accepting of ideas that we didn't, [...]

Kucinich endorses Darcy Burner!

We'll miss Dennis Kucinich in Congress come January.  But we can elect another true progressive to represent us.  Just read what he had to say about Darcy Burner from WA01.  Since this is just a screen grab from an email sent by Kucinich, the links don't work.  So, to find out more and contribute to her campaign please visit DarcyBurner.com (and you can always visit the Blue America PAC page too...)

Strange Days

The Ramones (Tommy, anyway) on Morning Joe this morning, the Supreme Court likely overturning the closest thing we've had to health care for all in this country, people protesting against "Obamacare" even though they love what it does, candidates buying elections and union support.  I could go on and on, but we'll let the show do the rest. On today's show, I'll speak with John Fugelsang, a political comedian who turned the Romney campaign on its ear last week, Howie Klein of Down With Tyranny and the Blue America PAC who'll tell us why we need to vote against some [...]

Live from Netroots Nation

It was a great time at Netroots Nation! I'm finally home and able to post the show we did live from the exhibit hall Thursday morning. Once things got rolling, it was a non-stop parade of wonderful guests including Sam Seder, Truthout.org's Jason Leopold, Progressive Congress' Darcy Burner, Adam Bink of Courage Campaign, consultant/pundit Cliff Schecter, Teacher Ken (of Daily Kos), Sally Kohn, Mark Levine, Democracy for America Executive Director Ashad Hasan, congressional candidate Norman Solomon, and comedian Matthew Filipowitz. I'll share more with you on the show tomorrow and the rest of the week.  Stay tuned for my conversations [...]

Standing Up For What’s Right

It's what I try to do on my show every day. But in real life, do we truly take action? I understand, life gets in the way.  Working -sometimes 2 or 3 jobs- to get enough money to feed our kids and pay the rent - or mortgage, if we haven't yet lost our homes.  Taking care of the kids, the car, the house, the dogs... then we're supposed to get active too? Of course, there's the money issue.  There are always great actions going on in Washington DC that we'd love to attend... if it didn't cost money that [...]
