Donald Trump spent the morning dissing the former president, the media and the intelligence community in Poland before heading to Germany for the G20 and his first meeting with Putin, slated for tomorrow. Howie Klein is back from vacation to talk politics and candidates. His most recent post, "The Democratic Party Brand-- Anyone Know What It Is?" delves into the idea of Bernie Sanders running for president again in 2020. We also spoke about Randy Bryce, the great candidate who's already giving Paul Ryan a run for his money and more. Visit the Blue America 2018 page here. And join Howie [...]
The Senate Republicans released their Obamacare repeal and replace bill today. You can read it here on Mother Jones' site, or on the Senate Budget Committee page. Heather "Digby" Parton joins in to talk about that and other news in our insane world. Find her at her Hullabaloo blog and at Salon.com.
No, Jason Leopold of Vice News is NOT a terrorist, though our government has christened him the "FOIA Terrorist," ostensibly because he uses it to get information they'd prefer not be made public. I know Jason wears the tag proudly, but it's not a moniker I like! I think he's our FOIA hero! Now, after the feds ignored his expedited request for information about Donald Trump before the election, he's filed wide-reaching lawsuit and is asking for virtually everything related to Trump, Hillary Clinton, and the election. He joined me on this episode of the show to bring us all up do [...]
I'm not having a great day... the show speaks for itself. Thanks to Gaius Publius for talking me down... Edit** I owe you more than that! Since the show ended, my mood went from bad to worse. It all started earlier today when I decided that I wanted to purge any Trump voters from my life. Well, from my social media, anyway. So I started a little experiment this morning. I asked my Facebook "friends" and "followers" who had voted for Trump and why. I was pleasantly surprised that there were very few. Most who identified themselves were not "friends" so [...]
We finally made it to the end of this endless election season. At 11pm ET tonight, I expect to hear that Hillary Clinton has been elected president in the biggest blowout in history. I also hope she realizes that it will be due to everyone turning out to defeat Trump. I believe it'll be an anti-Trump mandate, as opposed to a pro-Clinton one. But we'll see how it plays out. There's still that little voice saying that people are fucking nuts, and that anything is still possible. As my stomach churns! It's Tuesday, so GottaLaff hung out with me, and [...]
It's finally here! Election day has arrived, so it's only a few more hours that we'll be in limbo with the threat of a sociopathic, narcissistic wannabe dictator taking the white house. Here's today's look back and the never-ending campaign that will finally end tonight!
Nicole Sandler gets an assist from Dylan Matthews and Vox.com to take a look at what's possible if Hillary Clinton is elected. Reach the entire article, "Hillary Clinton's quiet revolution" here! And vote!
Five days to go, and this nation has never looked uglier. From the latest revelations about the inmates controlling the asylum at the FBI to voter intimidation and suppression, I'm re-thinking my decision to come back from sick leave before this shit storm subsided. I do remain satisfied that I voted the correct way. Despite being told that I'm trying to scare everyone about Trump as a means to get them to vote for Clinton, I'm just doing what I always do-- calling it the way I see it. The thought of a Trump presidency not only scares the shit out of [...]
I didn't get any "Gary Johnson"s, so we've got that going for us. When I asked the question today, "Who Are You Voting For, and Why?" I knew I'd get a variety of answers. But I do admit to being surprised by the guy who claimed to be a Bernie supporter voting for Trump as a way of supporting Bernie. I only called one person an idiot today, and that was him. I have been thinking about the answers and the passion from those who are voting for Jill Stein. Some people will - and we know that. I am just [...]
