Do you feel the change? OK, so it’s not exactly the change we expected two years ago, but there’s definitely something in the air.

It began in Tunisia and spread to Egypt, Libya, Bahrain, and other nations in the middle east and Northern Africa where people are standing up for their rights as human beings.

Here at home, ground zero for the movement to save democracy is in Wisconsin, where the labor movement is fighting for its life.  Although Gov. Walker may have won the battle, we know he’ll lose the war, but it’s a tough battle ahead.

In my state of Florida, an estimated 12-15,000 people participated in rallies statewide yesterday to “Awake the State” as we stand up to a criminal governor whose budget proposes $1.8 billion in cuts from public education, and gives $1.7 billion in tax breaks to the wealthy, corporations and homeowners.

Last week, following the lead of our British friends, we participated in the launch of US Uncut – calling attention to the fact that there are many corporation who use offshore tax havens and other loopholes to avoid paying any taxes at all here in the US.  The first day of action put the spotlight on Bank of America who, despite earnings of $4.4 billion in 2009 and lots of taxpayer aid, didn’t pay red cent to the US government in the form of taxes.  And they won’t pay anything by way of 2010 taxes either.  Shameful.  They’re corporate tax dodgers, and US Uncut is growing by the day.

The sleeping giant has awakened.  We talk about what’s happening in the world Monday through Thursday mornings, 10am-noon, at Radio or Not.

I’ll also be talking about many of these things today when I guest host the Randi Rhodes Show!  Tune in via any of her affiliates, or come to Radio or Not between 3 and 6pm ET this afternoon.

Along with lots of listener calls (866-87-RANDI), I’ll speak with nukefree.org‘s Harvey Wasserman about what would happen if an 8.9 magnitude earthquake, as hit Japan last night, should hit California; BradBlog‘s Brad Friedman will tell us about the “breitbarting” of NPR, John Nichols of The Nation – a third generation Wisconsinite, will tell us what happens now that Governor Hosni Walker signed the bill to kill public employee unions; and Amy Simon of She’s History will help us wrap the week with some fabulous female facts in honor of womens history month.

I Have a Favor to Ask

You might remember that last summer, I attended Netroots Nation in Las Vegas.  I got there with your help, as many of you clicked and voted for me in Democracy for America’s scholarship competition.

I learned so much at last year’s conference.  Even scooting around with a broken foot, I made many new contacts that you’ve heard on my show over the past year.

Lt. Dan Choi and Nicole Sandler at Netroots Nation 2010 – Las Vegas.

With the fight for what’s right raging her at home and around the world, momentum is on our side for real change.

Netroots Nation 2011 will be held in Minneapolis this June, and voting has begun in the competition for the DFA scholarships.

Once again, I’m asking for your help to send me.  All I need you to do is click and register your support for me.
