We’re setting sail to the place on the map
from which no one has ever returned
Drawn by the promise of the joker and the fool
by the light of the crosses that burned.
Drawn by the promise of the women and the lace
and the gold and the cotton and pearls
It’s the place where they keep all the darkness you need.
You sail away from the light of the world on this trip, baby.
You will pay tomorrow
You’re gonna pay tomorrow
You will pay tomorrow

Save me. Save me from tomorrow
I don’t want to sail with this ship of fools. No, no
Oh, save me. Save me from tomorrow
I don’t want to sail with this ship of fools
I want to run and hide right now

It’s April Fools Day, and the fools are out in force, just refusing to believe facts and proclaiming their lies to be the truth, misleading the naive, stealing from the poor while enriching the obscenely wealthy. Business as usual.

Avarice and greed are gonna drive you over the endless sea
They will leave you drifting in the shallows
or drowning in the oceans of history
Traveling the world, you’re in search of no good
but I’m sure you’ll build your Sodom like you knew you would
Using all the good people for your galley slaves
as your little boat struggles through the warning waves, but you don’t pay

You will pay tomorrow
You’re gonna pay tomorrow
You’re gonna pay tomorrow

They may pay tomorrow, but we’re paying today. Our children are suffering while the rich avoid paying for their misdeeds claiming special privilege due to their memberships in the lucky sperm club.

Save me. Save me from tomorrow
I don’t want to sail with this ship of fools
Save me. Save me from tomorrow
I don’t want to sail with this ship of fools
Where’s it comin’ from?
Where’s it goin’ to now?
It’s just a It’s just a ship of fools

The fools are out, and not only on this day. Yesterday, the final day of the open enrollment period to obtain health care in 2014 under the Affordable Care Act, I participated in a twitter hastag drive #getcoverednow with my story:

Among the responses I got were these uninformed gems:

These are the people who will cut off their noses to spite their faces, then have no health insurance to fix the problems!

Jacki Schechner has been working on the health care reform issue for as long as I’ve been covering it.. and she joined me today for some fact-based analysis of where we are today, as the Affordable Care Act hit the original goals! Check out Jacki’s blog here

And GottaLaff joined in from the Political Carnival to poke some fun at Chris Christie, and commiserate with me over the sad state of our media- a wholly owned subsidiary of the Republican Party.

A listener pointed me to this Yahoo News story about the Obama administration’s enrollment drive’s secret weapon being radio. Look what segment of commercial, terrestrial radio (on the public airwaves) that was left out of the media blitz…

I guess we’re all sailing on that ship of fools today…
