While I'm out, please explore the archives. There's close to 10 years of full shows, lots of interviews and some musical treats too. And it's all free. Well, on the honor system, anyway. Since I'm trying to heal and hope to escape from politics while I'm on the mend, I thought I'd share some of the highlights of my career so you can escape the ugliness of this political season too. On The Nicole Sandler Show stream, I'm playing back dozens of my favorite interviews with musicians and rock stars from my many years in music radio. Although I can't [...]
Earlier this morning, I put up a guest editorial from Jennifer Nix and Mark Myers that first appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle last week. Since the paper is behind a paywall, Jen and Mark gave me permission to repost "He Said She Said: The superdelegates' outsize role." Click over and read all about the Democratic Party's very undemocratic dirty little secret (that's not so secret any more!) Jennifer Nix and Mark Myers joined me for the last half hour of today's show to try to explain the history of the superdelegate, how and when they vote, and how we might [...]
We somehow made it to the end of this bloody week still standing. Today on the show, Nicole Sandler chats with The Nation's John Nichols about Wisconsin's new voter ID law & how it accomplished what the GOP legislature (who passed it) set out to do. Lee Camp brings the humor about the serious stakes as we head into the weekend. And in honor of Joan Baez endorsing Bernie Sanders, we have a Flashback Fri segment from 1996 with Joan and Dar Williams.
It’s Good Friday. Nicole likes to end the week on a lighter note, so today she welcomes comedian & host of the Indie Bohemians podcast, Ron Placone to the show to talk about his experience touring colleges and feeling the Bern. Plus your phone calls, Saturday caucuses in Alaska, Hawaii and Washington State, and a Flashback Friday musical blast from Nicole’s radio past… Billy Bragg from August 27, 2009 on Air America radio!
Bernie Sanders wrapped up a quick tour of Florida before heading out to Ohio, another of the states going to the polls on Tuesday. Julianna Forlano helps recap this long, strange week in politics. RL Miller tells who Climate Hawks Vote supporters voted to endorse. And we'll end the week with a Flashback Fri segment with David Byrne (pronounced Bern!)
It's Friday, and Nicole is worn out from watching Bernie getting berated by Chris Matthews, and the mud wrestling posing as a presidential debate last night. But she'll talk about the state of the presidential race with Julianna Forlano. And for Flashback Friday, it's a conversation with Little Steven Van Zandt
Nicole Sandler follows logic down the rabbit hole today as she recaps some of last night's final GOP debate before the Iowa Caucuses on Wednesday, Donald Trump's hypocrisy on veterans and more. And for Flashback Friday, Nicole unearthed her 2-17-10 interview with Jackson Browne, recorded on a visit to LA...
Nicole Sandler wraps up a big week with a discussion of last night's GOP debate and the rest of the news. Julianna Forlano adds the humor to the otherwise depressing news. And for Flashback Fri, Nicole takes us back to 15 years ago tomorrow for her interview with David Gray, and then to March of 01 for a wonderful performance by Jeb Loy Nichols.
We've made it to the end of another week. Nicole helps segue into the weekend with some laughs with Julianna Forlano and #FlashbackFriday musical blasts from Nicole's radio past. Today, Peter Himmelman from 12-15-99 and Melissa Etheridge from 12-16-03
Nicole is glad to see this week end. Julianna Forlano brought some cheer to the day as she's pregnant, and we now know she's got a little girl on the way! Our Flashback Friday segment was from December 1996 at KSCA in Los Angeles with Emmylou Harris, Susanna Hoffs and Duncan Sheik who were all performing that night at our annual homeless benefit, "Gimme Shelter."
